What do you think gives Deus ex 1 that "it" factor?

Beyond all the things it does so well, it seems that there is just something you cant really put your finger on about dx1. It has a unique feel. Even when watching just some youtube video of it I still get drawn in strongly. Do you have any ideas what it could be? Is it just nostaliga?

Just started Deus Ex 1 for the first time

Hey everyone. Just as the title says I'm playing it for the first time ever. At the moment I'm in this giant area that's the starting point after the tutorial and I'm going around killing everyone without really knowing what to do lol.

Tranq gun is a bit confusing. I hit them but nothing happens. Does it take a while to come into effect? And are there any tips/things I should know? I just finished CP77 and have an itch for cyberpunk games now lol

Seriously, I'm stumped. I can't remember any alarms, I barely put anyone to sleep, I saved everyone. Do the guards in the last fight count, if they die to the electric ground? do I have to cheese the boss to get the achievement? I wish I could check the missions to see if I got smooth criminal operative.
what about canceling a hack attempt? does that count against FOH?

    Deus Ex Rookie

Hi all, since I'm not an owner of a next-gen console and Cyberpunk 2077 yet, I've started on my PS4 back-catalogue some weeks ago. I've always been intrigued with Cyberpunk-ish titles, so back in the days when Deus Ex Human Revolution landed on the PS3, it was a no-brainer - I thought. It should've been 100% my jam, but somehow I just wasn't feeling it.. I know that most of you on here probably won't understand this, as HR is widely perceived to be the best one.

Anyway, last week I've finished Deus Ex Mankind Divided and I absolutely loved it! The game is not perfect, but overall I had a great time. I guess liked the atmosphere and world better in this one compared to HR, I loved to explore Prague and Golem City especially.

I'm definitely going to follow the Deus Ex franchise from now on, hopefully there is a new one in the works. Does someone perhaps has more info in this? Couldn't find much via Google - which is not a good sign.

I know that I'm very late to this party, but if someone is up to talk about the Deus Ex worlds in these boring Covid lockdown days.. I'm up for it!

Do you remember the name of this game?

There was a game that started as a Deus Ex game but turned into a different game. The genre of game was tps-shooter. Its not Alpha Protocol, released in the early 2000s.
