Deus Ex: Revision Makes Me Happy Posted: 13 Feb 2021 07:55 AM PST Hello all, I have played Deus Ex vanilla and GMDX probably at least 100 times combined over the years. Enjoying every playthrough, and always finding something different. For all these years I avoided Revision because the consensus on here and other Deux Ex forums was that it messed too much with the original level design and made Deus Ex a worse experience. I finally decided to try it 5 years after the mod originally released on Steam. Have to say I really enjoyed it! I still think if someone is new to the game they should play vanilla first. However as someone who has played Deus Ex as many times as I have, it was such a breath of fresh air to explore levels I knew but were still different enough where I didn't know exactly where I was going. Honestly I had fun playing this mod. Do I have a single fact to back that up? Not really, just opinions. Pros: - Level Design (only thing in the entire game I didn't like that was changed was Smugglers location.) - Music (Remixed music was good, although you can just switch to the original soundtrack if you prefer.) - Achievements (There are so many achievements! It was a blast to play through the game and picking these up.) - Performance (I had only 1 crash throughout my 25 hour Revision playthrough, vanilla and GMDX crashed on me much more often.) Cons: - Smuggler Location Change (Took me forever to find this new location.) - Difficulty spike compared to vanilla/GMDX (this point is mute for veterans to the game though.) - HDTP models for JC/Paul, I turned this off after seeing them very ugly and out of place. (Same way I feel about the Half-Life: Blue Shift model updates) - Missed mantling that was added from GMDX, after using it so long it feels like it should be in the game as a standard. PS: Did you know on Liberty Island? >! Once you reach the top of the Statue, if you confront the terrorist and have him attack you, or you attack him. You can just run away, and then later everyone yells at you for retreating and letting the terrorist get away, what a shame. !< After having played this game so many times I was blown away this was an option I just never thought was possible. Overall though I would recommend this mod to anyone who has played the original many times like I have, and wants an interesting change of pace and mix up of the levels. This experience has also highlighted to me, if it seems everyone tells you a game, book, or movie is bad. Try it anyway because you might end up liking it. Worst case scenario you don't like the mod and just uninstall it, it's free if you have Deus Ex on Steam which I'm guessing a lot of people here already do. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 13 Feb 2021 09:12 PM PST I'm struggling when covering to pop out of cover to aim and shoot. In human revolution, if I held the cover button, I could pop out using left analog stick (Xbox) to aim/shoot and return to cover if I let go of the left analog stick while still holding the cover button. In MD, I can't figure out how to pop out of cover to do this. Is this part of the game, or am I missing something with a new set of controls? [link] [comments] |
