Does anyone get chills/goosebumps and an aesthetic frisson from playing this game? Posted: 14 Jun 2021 01:32 AM PDT Both games. Especially mankind. Because I do literally every second. The atmosphere, music, setting, lights, colors, take me out of it. Its amazing. I just finished this game like 2 days ago and i dont think I'm ever going to put it down. [link] [comments]
Are we stuck in something of a technological dark age? Posted: 14 Jun 2021 06:10 AM PDT As the title suggests this is something I've been thinking about more and more recently but bear with me. From the 1960s if we add 30 years it takes us through to the 1990s, from the technologies available to the average consumer through to computing the leap was huge, strive forward in more or less everything in how we lived our lives, completely changed. Full disclosure I was born in the late 1980s, I'm now in my early 30s. Lets take 1990 and add another 30 years. Oh look, we're suddenly in 2020s and yet I would argue the world hasn't changed all THAT much, certainly not in the same way we went from the 60s to the 90s. In the mid 90s my mum had an Internet connection, I played on games consoles, I had a home computer the only notable thing I didn't have was a mobile phone but I got one by the time I hit secondary school in the early 00s. What really hit this home with me, I was asked to clean out some old boxes of things that had been left in my mothers attic since moving out of my childhood home 11 years ago, long story short I found my old MP3 player from college, I had bought this thing in 2006 according to the earliest files on there making it 15 years old... Yet I could plug it in to my modern desktop using the USB port, I could open all of the files up and play the WMP/MP3s just as I could back when I threw the thing in the box well over a decade ago. Not only that but I could load up all of my old coursework that a 16 year old me had half heartedly started to write back in college. I got thinking to myself, has the world changed all that much within that time? The answer has to be no. So does anyone else feel we're in a bit of a stagnation when it comes to technological progression? [link] [comments]

Should Deus ex 5 come out under Square Enix management? Posted: 14 Jun 2021 03:45 AM PDT I believe that it wouldn't be good if a new Deus ex game was made to be under "Today's Square enix". Square enix has changed to a company thirsty for money and doesn't give shit about interesting and memorable games anymore and also it's Ip's. I wouldn't want to see Deus ex turned into a shallow cash grab game that is a live service and with in game purchases that which makes the game frustrating and harder to play it (Can you imagine a thing like "Dammn Jensen couldn't destroy Illuminati's plan again! Wait for the expansion pack in summer that needs to be free but is not actually "ends" jensen's story"... goddamn it's horrible to think about it). This company is litteraly making a Final fantasy battle royale game! What happened to old Square enix? They would do anything to squeeze money out of their Ip's and they would 100% also do it to Deus ex (Which they try to did on DXMD). I think either Square enix would need to stop making these garbage cash grab marvel games and actually care about creativity and let their companies make actual good games which people actually care... Or sell Deus ex Ip right's to another company. They aren't of course going to change themselvs beacuse they love M O N E Y and also M O N E Y. I know games are of course made for the purpose of gaining money but Square enix just tries to gain fast money by making shallow, uninteresting, boring and unmemorable games. [link] [comments]
