    /r/DeusEx Monthly Community Thread - March 2021

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 02:59 PM PST

Hello everyone and welcome to the monthly r/DeusEx community thread!

This is a place to chill whenever you like, post feedback, ask questions that you don't think warrant a new thread, or just get that burning DX1 meme out of your system. It is okay to go off-topic, however other rules still apply - please be nice to the other users and use a spoiler tag if needed.

Happy birthdays to our favourite augmented men: Adam Jensen (March 9, 1993 - he's turning 28 this year!) and JC Denton (March 17, 2029 - he's, uh, -8). Feeling old yet? :D

Important Note: We are still enforcing our rule regarding Cyberpunk 2077 from last month, while we understand many of you have been waiting for a Deus Ex/Cyberpunk 2077 crossover, we would like to keep this place centered around the Eidos-Montréal and Ion Storm games. Feel free to post any Cyberpunk 2077 content here in this thread. The Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit is r/cyberpunkgame. Have a great day!

Synthetic heart aug doesn't work properly in PS2 version?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 05:58 PM PST

I'm replaying DX1, this time on the PS2. I'm finding that the synthetic heart aug appears to do nothing but waste energy. It doesn't upgrade my regen, which has a clear improvement if I upgrade it the usual way (5 points at a time on level 1, 15 at a time on level 2). Similarly, the spy drone works identically whether or not I active synthetic heart. It doesn't seem to improve speed enhancement either. edit Just tested EMP Shield aug. The synthetic heart isn't affecting that one either, but again if I upgrade it the usual way that has the expected effect.

    Has anyone else encountered this?

Annoyingly I didn't notice it at the time I chose the aug, which was a while back and I've lost that save.

    DX1 build question

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 10:29 PM PST

Hi, it's my first time playing DX1, I've just finished HR at normal with the Pacifist achievement (hacked everything, explored everything, almost got all the augmentations) and I can say that I've enjoyed it a lot.

I've started DX1 (medium difficulty) after reading some tips and I've downgraded pistol and I've put points into low tech weapons, electronics, lockpicking and computer. Are these skills good to keep and max, or should I get others too for completing the game 100%?

Some people suggest getting a ranged weapon training, but I've heard that you get a pretty strong "laser" sword a few hours in the game. Is a ranged weapon training necessary?

Was DX:HR Director's Cut Ever Fixed?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 05:49 PM PST

I want to replay DX:HR. I have both the original and the Director's Cut in my Steam library. I recall that at launch, the Director's Cut was based on a very old version of the original game without fixes for stuttering and other bugs. Have these been fixed in the Director's Cut yet or should I just replay the original?

    Deus Ex (2000) recap

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 04:05 PM PST

I'm going to play Human Revolution and Mankind Divided but I never played the first game.

What the best video "recap" (short preferably) of the first game? The story and basic knowledge I should have about the universe.

    Thank you.
