    /r/DeusEx Monthly Community Thread - February 2021

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 04:13 AM PST

Hello everyone and welcome to the monthly r/DeusEx community thread! This is a place to chill whenever you like, post feedback, ask questions that you don't think warrant a new thread, or just get that burning DX1 meme out of your system. It is okay to go off-topic, however other rules still apply - please be nice to the other users and use a spoiler tag if needed.

Question of the Month: Which Deus Ex character would you like to be your Valentine? ♥

Important Note: We are still enforcing our rule regarding Cyberpunk 2077 from last month, while we understand many of you have been waiting for a Deus Ex/Cyberpunk 2077 crossover, we would like to keep this place centered around the Eidos-Montréal and Ion Storm games. Feel free to post any Cyberpunk 2077 content here in this thread. The Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit is r/cyberpunkgame. Have a great day!

A Beautiful Piece of Concept Art I Found

Just finished Human Revolution, anything I need to know before jumping into Mankind Divided?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 11:01 PM PST

I just finished Human Revolution, and my god, what a fantastic game! I really loved it and I'm ready to start Mankind Divided, but I wanted to know if there was anything in between the two games I needed to know.

    Tracer Tong is Shady AF

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 02:21 AM PST

I just completed my hundredth playthrough of the original DX.
Discovered a couple of new things this time. I used to think it was kinda weird that Jock's Tonnochi Road apartment didn't have a bathroom, but I realized it does and I'd just never done a thorough enough search to find the doors. I also dodged Gunther in Paris, and decided not to kill Walton Simons either. But one person I wish I could've killed was Tracer Tong.

I do not trust him at all. Because the computer in his office shows Illuminati Information Systems. Which suggests that he at the very least knows about them and is in some way involved, since he's ON their network. But then when you're risking your life in Versalife and you blow up the UC, and Tong is analysing the virus, he acts like he's noticing the Illuminati fingerprint for the first time. He pretends to be pleasantly surprised to be learning of their existence. And then a while later it turns out he knows Everett and Dowd.

Also I think the Luminous Path is pretty shady in general. Gordon Quick hiring that little turd Louis Pan to threaten the newspaper kiosk lady and steal from her. And the fact that Helios, a benevolent AI, decided to lock the door to the Luminous Path compound.

Tong's ending was also overkill. There's no reason to go back to the dark ages by ending all global communications. Which is why I usually do just the Illuminati and Helios endings.

I just want to say KUDOS for having death music that varies on area

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 05:56 AM PST

Such a unique thing but never utilized really in other games. In fact the death music is so perfectly synchronized to what is going on in the story, it's like a synesthesia.

A Strange Item found in Deus Ex : Mankind Divided

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 11:19 AM PST

What were details of DX1 you only recently discovered that were interesting or enjoyable?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 07:39 AM PST

To all the people still enjoying repeated DX1 playthroughs: What were details of the game you only recently discovered that were interesting or enjoyable?

A few examples of mine: * Finding the "Old China Hand" in Hong Kong including the passage to the scientist in the flooded canal. * The many emails and news reports that include so much background information and explain the motivation of some characters. * DX1 Spoiler * And of course, some alternative weapon ammo types I didn't bother trying out before.

    [DX1] BioMod question.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 11:40 AM PST

    [DX1] BioMod question.

I took the Aqualung augmentation and upgraded it to "Tech two", it states that "while underwater, you regain back a small amount of energy".

    https://preview.redd.it/52n5qbjs5xe61.png?width=338&format=png&auto=webp&s=f0c6460624add551ecdf4f03990c24c04581fa6b

No matter how low my energy levels are, activating this Aug then submerging myself underwater for as long as possible without starting to lose oxygen and keeping myself there, my energy levels do not move a single percent. I don't lose energy, I don't regain energy, it just stays there.

    Swiming around does nothing.

Activating Aqualung + jumping underwater does nothing.

Jumping underwater + activating Aqualung while inside does nothing.

    Readme file states:

    Aqualung

    Type: Passive

Description: Aqualung now actually restores some of your energy when you're in water in addition to letting you breathe.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
