The term "robot" celebrates it's 100th anniversary Posted: 25 Jan 2021 12:19 PM PST Today marks the 100th anniversary of the R.U.R.'s official premiere and basically 100 years since the public could hear the word "robot" for the first time. R.U.R. is sci-fi theatre play about robots, written by Karel Capek. The word was invented by his brother. It's interesting that robots were not machines but rather advanced artificial biologic organisms. They look like humans and serve to them, but later they turn against humankind. R.U.R. sparked longstanding dilemma about use of artificially intelligent technologies. DX:MD fans will perhaps remember the basement of Vincent Van Aug in Prague - with eBooks contaning excerpts from R.U.R.'s script and Irenka Bauer, lonely actress who acts out R.U.R. and in her loneliness developed split personality disorder (or something resembling it), her primary personality being robot Helena from the play. It is also the reason why to mention the anniversary in this sub! [link] [comments]

Would love to hear more legit Techno music in the next Deus Ex game. Posted: 25 Jan 2021 08:55 PM PST At this point, CP2077 proves that underground techno music is the perfect audio representation of the 'high technology, low life' ethos of the cyberpunk genre (at least at this day and age). Also, a pounding kickdrum in the middle of a gun fight does wonders to create intensity (I am saying this as a former dubstep guy myself lol). The ambient music in MD is top notch (some of the best), but I feel it's not appropriate for some of DE's settings (particularly the rave and the Red Queen). For example, Mute video 1 and play video 2 over it: [link] [comments]

Random augmentations playstyle - worth the try? Posted: 25 Jan 2021 12:56 PM PST I'm a big fan of roguelikes and other games where you have to play with the cards you're dealt with, making the best out of circumstances ur given. And it crossed my mind that it might be a fun idea to try HR or MD with random augmentations - basically open up randomizer every time I get a Praxis kit to decide where to put it. Do you think these games are varied and replayable enough for this challenge, given that I already completed them once? I know games like Fallout or various roguelikes hold up extremely well when replayed, I'm just curious if this a good idea for modern DE games. [link] [comments]
Similar music to Michael McCann's OSTs? Posted: 25 Jan 2021 04:48 AM PST Hi. I'm looking for similar music to our beloved Michael McCann's works on both DX:HR and DX:MD. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
