| Brightness and performance issues in GMDX... Help? Posted: 26 Nov 2020 09:13 PM PST I know, i know. Yet another post about the game being too damn dark. But I have googled for ages trying to find a fix for this, and I'm completely stumped. Here's the deal... I'm running Deus Ex 1 with the newest GMDX version, and if I use any renderer except the DirectX 10 one, the game is BONKERS dark. Like, I need to use the flashlight just to navigate through 90% of the world. I used 7-8 biocells just in the first Hell's Kitchen mission, just to keep my flashlight going. And no, the brightness slider doesn't help, as it has absolutely no effect in any renderer except the DX10 one. So I would just use the DX10 renderer, but it is giving me serious performance problems. I'm talking frequent hitching and FPS dips down into the 30s, making the game effectively unplayable. This hitching doesn't occur in any other renderer, but all of them are too dark! Does anyone know how I can fix either the non-DX10 darkness, or the DX10 performance? I recall using the DX10 renderer in past playthroughs with GMDX, and I don't remember these performance or darkness issues being a problem. Oh, and in case it matters, I'm using the "Play GMDX" shortcut that the game added to my desktop, which appearntly makes the game load through the "kentie launcher". That doesn't seem to always apply settings correctly, though, so maybe that's the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] | ||

| First time playing DX:MD DLC's Posted: 26 Nov 2020 05:22 AM PST I have played through DX:MD 3 or 4 times but never played any of the DLC missions until this week. Having now done so I wish I had played them earlier!! I have only played System Rift and A criminal past so far but I found both excellent - especially A Criminal Past which immediately reminded me of one of imo the most under-rated games of all time - Riddick - Escape from Butcher Bay. Having finished it last night I realise that I shouldn't have taken the pill or used the rigged bio-cell but that now gives me a reason to play it again, the harder way without augs! I would recommend playing DX:MD in this order -
