I realize that Hugh went against the Illuminati to pursue his own agenda, but what exactly were the rest trying to achieve with those human experiments

Dialogue bug in Human Revolution DC GOG version (Keitner's dialogue is missing)

    Posted: 08 May 2020 09:03 PM PDT

I just got to the Missing Link DLC in the GOG version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut, and without touching anything, it kept skipping Keitner's dialogue at the beginning. It skipped right over every line of her dialogue and just showed me the response options. Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, is it going to keep happening during the DLC? Does anyone know how to fix it?

    Paul Denton disappeared?

    Posted: 08 May 2020 11:33 AM PDT

    I'm playing Deus Ex GOTY.

I've just transmitted the distress signal, got the mission to meet up with Paul in his apartment, only that he was nowhere to be seen. I can either go in by the window and then the enemies appear outside of the apartment, or walk in through the front entrance and then there's a little scene with the hotel owner and JoJo, no sight of enemies, I go into the apartment, still no Paul, but the enemies spawn...

Am I missing something? Is my safe softlocked?

Can someone explain if Orchid was meant to target only augs or could be indiscriminate.

    Posted: 08 May 2020 02:49 PM PDT

So some shower thought time this morning got me thinking after randomly reminding myself about Orchid and about how it was used an assassination tool. First time we see it, Talos Rucker is quickly killed by it and Adam is also gets dosed by it later but survives. Marcenko then spikes champagne to try and eliminate Nathaniel Brown and forces Adam's boss to drink some.

This is where the confusion sets in. The Orchid was meant to eliminate the use of anti-rejection medication in augs, but its instability caused fatal reactions in the target audience, hence why Rucker dies. Adam survives because he lacks a specific gene it targets. So natural humans should be safe if they're not the intended target for Orchid's medicinal applications. So by this logic Adam should have also arguably died because he lacked the gene it targeted to kill other augmented people because the agent should have, by not finding the gene, assumed Adam was non-augmented.

As it could also kill either Miller and/or Brown and his delegates through the spiked champagne, is it safe to assume that Orchid's fatal reactions to the body are hastened within the body of an aug and slower to act in a natural human? The wiki never outright states Orchid was indiscriminate but causes haemorrhage and organ failure. As Orchid is more or less the predecessor of the Grey Death, we must assume noone was really safe from it.

    Anyone want to add anything?
