    Deus Ex-esque Books

    Posted: 21 May 2020 10:53 PM PDT

If you're looking for some Deus Ex-esque books, here are some recommendations of sci-fi books that deal with biological/robotic augmentation/cyborgs:

    • "The Fixer" series, by Andrew Vallencourt. (The protagonist has had his entire body cybernetically enhanced for military black ops. The story takes place after he is discharged/escapes from the military and is working as a "Fixer" in the slums/ghetto - the daughter of the scientist/engineer who helped him escape the military comes seeking his help escaping people hunting her down, and to find her father)
    • "Rika's Marauders" series, M.D. Cooper (A little sappy. The protagonist "Rika" has her body replaced with a combat android as punishment for stealing goverment technology (a fabricated lie), then goes on to become an augmented mercenary. The story deals with her coming to grips with being a robot and trying to find love, while shooting at people and blowing shit up)
    • "First of My Kind" series, Marc Stevens (The protagonist has a near-death experience in the forest and has his body biologically augmented by the nearby AI of an abandoned/stranded alien spacecraft in order to survive. Protagonist then goes on to fight evil around the galaxy. Think "Guardians of the Galaxy")
    • "The Reawakening Trilogy" series, Myke Cole (A Graphic Audio book, meaning it has multiple actors playing different roles, and sound effects&music - High production value. Synopsis: Magic exists, but not the nice fairytale kind. The protagonist has been reanimated and turned into a zombie super-soldier after his death, with heightened agility, speed, strength, senses, and bone-claws. He now needs to use his abilities as a soldier and his "un-death" to protect his family from a secret black-ops organization and other zombiefied-soldier monsters.)
    • "The Last Reaper" series, J.N. Chaney (Haven't read it yet, so I can't vouch for it being any good, but it's supposed to be Deus Ex-esque)

All books are also available as audiobook, if you prefer having someone narrate to you instead of reading yourself.

Glitched-looking screenshot featured on Steam Store page of Human Revolution. Not sure what it's from, if anything.

Is there something wrong with the steam version of Deus ex?

    Posted: 21 May 2020 09:43 AM PDT

I don't own the game but really am considering buying it however reviews mentioned that the steam game of the year edition is horrible and the graphics malfunction or something like that. Is there anything I should know about before buying or possible fixes?
