Early Game Crashes in Human Revolution Director's Cut Posted: 22 May 2020 08:03 PM PDT I haven't been able to find any other posts discussing this issue, but my copy has some major problems. First, the opening cutscene will freeze about 1 or 2 seconds in, and not unfreeze. Pausing the game and skipping the cutscene is the only workaround. Then, once I skip the cutscene, I run into another problem. Dropped in the first room, I can interact with the computer just fine. But the moment I try and interact with the doctor, the game fades to black and the window closes. No error, no glitchy noises, nothing. The window just closes. I've tried several fixes, which I'll list below, alongside my specs. - Windows compatibility mode, for every version available (8, 7, Vista, and XP) - Running the game with DirectX 11 enabled - Running the game with DirectX 11 disabled - Verifying the integrity of my install - Reinstalling the game entirely - Turning the graphical settings all the way down - Disabling VSync My specs: - GTX 1070- 8GB - 16GB DDR4 RAM - Ryzen 5 3600- 6 cores I doubt any other components would influence this issue, but I will provide more info if requested. I'm currently trying some other fixes with a friend, and will update this thread with any further fixes we try. [link] [comments]
Deus Ex movie apparently still in development, slated for 2022 release. Posted: 22 May 2020 03:17 PM PDT A Deus Ex movie was supposed to come out in 2014 but has been delayed over and over again, the last news were in 2018. (https://www.licenseglobal.com/stub/cbs-signs-deus-ex-movie) But the movie has silently been listed for a 2022 release on Moviepilot and csfd. Scott Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill & Adrian Askarieh have been attached to the project for a couple of years now and have never officially quit it. There is the possibility that it is alive and we might even get an announcement next month, at the deus ex anniversary. But it is also very likely that the project has been pushed forward to keep the license without any actual plans, keep that in mind. [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 May 2020 12:52 PM PDT Stoked to give DE:IW that I bought on Steam a run but when I try starting a new game it says "my PC does not have enough free space". I have around 160 GB to spare on C: so I'm not sure what the problem really is. Could it be some issue with permission to write to C:? I tried running as admin but no dice. Any help much appreciated! What order do I play the games? Posted: 22 May 2020 10:20 PM PDT So I just bought the bundle what order should I play them and is there any game I should not play? [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 May 2020 11:58 AM PDT So I just finished Black Light and in my opinion it's... supplemental. I feel like it was a fun story, but at the end of the day all the major players that we were introduced to disappeared; I would've liked it better if it was further integrated into the actual game (maybe meeting Jarreau again, for example?). I will say it gave me a new appreciation for the inner workings of the Juggernaut Collective, since DXMD didn't see it important to tell us how Adam started working for them, why, or what their end goal really is. I still don't ~like~ any of the Juggernaut collective and I was hoping the book would change that, but it really just made me more wary. Adam questioning who's running him towards the end — hit the nail on the head. I'm not on Team Illuminati, which means I can't be on Team TF29. Team Collective seems shady and too overly trusting to be safe. I guess I'm just on Team Jensen. I also couldn't give less of a flying f ck about Janus when playing the game, but now I understand what Janus' archetype is and why the Illuminati wants his head so badly. It also gives us some insight into Lucius DeBeers and Elizabeth DuClare's little splinter faction inside the Illuminati and their inner workings, which I had actually been confused about. So all in all it's really just another portion of the story, filled in some gaps left by the two year time jump. I suppose my annoyance comes from the fact that I shouldn't have to spend an extra $8 to read a book to figure these things out, that they should have been told to me in the narrative of the game. I like being given extra content, but it doesn't feel like extra content, just components of the story that were omitted. Writing-wise, I didn't mind it. It was straightforward with a few quotable moments, but it was an extremely short read for me. I started last night, shotgunning through it, and finished it this morning. All in all maybe seven-eight hours of read time? (But I read fast.) It keeps you on your toes, though, and the action scenes are fun. The escape from 451 was riveting, and the ending scene with the Typhoon is one of my favorite parts of the book. I wish it had contained more of a story arc for Pritchard, as he's my favorite character, instead of leaving him flapping in the wind despite showing that he's one of the few people who genuinely cared for Adam. But I guess with System Rift they assured us that he'll return, and I hope he'll show up in later installments if we get them. (Also what is the connection between Black Light and System Rift? Is there another story component I'm missing? Because Adam seemed annoyed or downright hostile at the start of System Rift despite Pritchard helping him at the end of Black Light, so I'm confused...) Has anyone else read it and, if so, what were your favorite parts and criticisms? [link] [comments]
