| trying to beat DX1 16+ yrs after purchasing Posted: 29 Jan 2020 10:39 AM PST i bought Deus Ex GOTY at Target as a young whipper snapper in about 2003. since then, i've started and stopped playing about a half dozen times. life always got in the way and i've never finished the game, but i love it so dang much i keep coming back to it. this year i started playing again and i've now made it as far as i've ever come -- running errands for Tracer Tong in Hong Kong. the first time he had me go down to VersaLife i managed to make it out by the skin of my teeth (thanks cloaking aug) with tremendous pride in my accomplishment. when i went to talk to him and he told me to go back down there...i wished there was a dialog option to punch him in his stupid face. anyway, here i go again, back into the belly of the beast! wish me luck! finally gonna beat this game this year! | Posted: 30 Jan 2020 12:14 AM PST First time I played DX, I used only the quick save slot, and that resulted in me quitting the game when the save corrupted. This time around, I decided to be clever, and do regular saves often, so a failure of the latest one would set me back a level or so. This time, for some strange reason Steam said that DX is not installed, and when I "reinstalled" (it rediscovered files, it seems), ALL the saves got corrupted, it seems. On the "Load Game" screen seems like a normal save list, but for some reason the picture (map preview) is missing. Try loading the game, you return to the main menu, and upon opening Load Game again, you are greeted with a huge list of SAVEINFO.DXS MISSING!!!. These files are present in every save (otherwise, how would it even load level names and save times?). What can I do not to start the game all over again? [link] [comments] |
