Anyone recommend games like Deus Ex?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:49 PM PDT

I love the DE franchise and want something new to play, recently played Deus Ex's, Prey and Cyberpunk (with cyberpunk surprisingly the least enjoyable of the 3)

    Thank you all

About a month ago I made a post asking this great community if I should play Mankind Divided. Literally every single comment said yes so I got it. So far I put around 20 hours into it but I wanted to share my thoughts.

Now I have played Human Revolution so I was expecting a similar world, and similar gameplay and an interesting continuation of the story.

    I was wrong.

Prague is probably my favorite semi-open world in gaming period. Filled with so many well made characters and levels and secrets. The graphics have aged but not too badly and I still found them good. The game was from the era before in-engine cutscenes but I got to mention that while it is CG they do look amazing. Why didn't they ever bother to make a Deus Ex film?

Some of the settings look amazing. I was actually impressed that the side missions were actually interesting and held a healthy balance of both gameplay and narrative rewards. The story is delving into questions about the cyberpunk future that I find fascinating. And there are some legitimately difficult decisions. The combat and controls were vastly improved and the new experimental augs are wicked!

My only complaints so far is some of the UI from Human Revolution was replaced by much simpler UI while I preferred the older one (I don't mind the new one that much). Also I find it very annoying how difficult it is to gather Biocells in the early game. I know I can buy but they cost a lot for me in the first few hours. I just prefer that I worry all the time about energy when using my augs. (If I am somehow missing anything important please let me know.)

Overall I'm enjoying the game so far. And I want to thank this community for helping me decide to try this incredible game out. I'm not gonna come back to this sub until I beat the game (because of spoilers of course).

Have a good day and thank you for reading.

Dubai in 2029 looks pretty empty without NPCs or residents except the enemies within the hotel. But if you zoom in and look closely, you can actually see the silhouette of a human standing in the dubai bay area.

    Deus ex remake

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 01:27 AM PDT

So I was talking to one of my friends and telling them about deus ex; I mentioned how I really want a remake of deus ex 1 and he replied with 'bruh make it yourself' I laughed but I been thinking about it. Why not?.

So I'm here today to ask you guys just would you want that. I would make it in unreal and keep the same music and dialogue (I might change some of the tracks with the conspiracvision because some of those tracks are amazing) but the only issue is that I don't have a computer currently and second. I stuck at modelling, so if anyone reading this and is good at modelling could you possibly contract me. I would make it in 2d but than you don't have the amazing maps.

Anyone give your opinions (also to the people who are about to say that you can remake games without the permission of developers, there's ways to by pass that. First you can't charge money, second you can't make a whole game and sell it for completely free you must do what other deus ex mods have done where you need to own the game. And third if they ask for it to be remove you have to remove it)

    Sorry for my grammar.

Picked up the first Dues Ex, what modernization mods can you recommend?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 01:35 PM PDT

This is the first Deus Ex game I've ever played. From what I've read it sounds like a really cool game, but is maybe a bit dated now. Are there any mods you can recommend to modernize it for my first playthrough? I still want the original core experience, but just looking for things like graphical updates and QOL updates that make it smoother to play. I got it from Steam if that matters.

ETA: So far I've only installed the New Vision mod which includes Kentie's launcher, but there's a big problem. The mouse is just insanely sensitive. Even turned down to 200 dpi, a short movement sends the world spinning. I also turned off mouse acceleration in the launcher. Any ideas how to fix that? It's currently unplayable :(

Is the Deus Ex Franchise dead? ...again? Will we ever see another game?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:47 PM PDT

I know SE fucked up the second (4th) game pretty badly, ironic considering the same happened with invisible war.

I just finished playing invisible war and absolutely loved it it has its issues but still enjoyable.

First time with Deus Ex - where should I start?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:57 PM PDT

I've been reading up on Warren Spector and wanted to play my first Deus Ex game. Mankind Divided is my first pick, but I've also been toying with the idea of playing the original.

Also, how closely does this series resemble Dishonored? Would you say it's fairly comparable?

    Thanks in advance!

    Red greasels

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 02:12 PM PDT

Were there originally supposed to be red greasels in invisible war? There are two notes that mention them one at the greasel pit and one in the run down science lab at the tarsus academy in Cairo. Both notes say red greasels are highly dangerous and more vicious than green greasels. There are no red greasels though only the red greasel hunter pistol. Are these notes supposed to hint toward the unique weapon or are red greasels a cut enemy?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 04:52 PM PDT

So i just got Deus ex and heard that you need to mod old Deus game in order to be able to stream or record it, or game doesnt work properly on modern systems, game looks bad today. Do i really need to mod it cause i never downloaded mods before (besides those on gmod but they are from workshos so it doesnt count).

Brand new to GMDX, has questions

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 06:42 PM PDT

I bought the game two decades ago, played a bunch but got stuck in Hong Kong. Tried it again some years ago, even re-purchased it on Steam because I don't like the CD-ROM format, but I tended to lose interest after the first 1-2 levels.

Now I've resumed playing, using one of the GMDX mods (it's my impression that it's some kind of branch off GMDX I'm using, not the "pure" GMDX).

I like some of the changes.

Even back when I played the huuuge 2-level demo, before purchasing the game, it bothered me that the Crowbar was vastly inferior to the Baton, taking up twice as much inventory space without being worth it. I always thought that it ought to have some kind of large bonus to damage vs wood. GMDX gives it something like that. Likewise, the Swimming Skill used to suck, but I wanted to take it, since aquatic infiltration fits the ninja character concept. That too has been re-balanced in GMDX.

    However.

In vanilla, Liberty Island had a lot of tiny explosive crates, and I'd use one to get to the MedBot and one to kabloom the small tracked Security Bot. Were these removed completely? If yes, how do I get past the Security Bot? I'm honestly not sure how to destroy it with the limited means available to me in the early game (whereas I can just burn a Lockpick to get to the MedBot if I need it; that's no problem).

Tranq Darts seem to fly in a very "steep" arc if used at long range, hitting the ground in front of the target. Is that a bug, or working-as-intended? Can I reduce the effect with higher Pistols Skill or a Perk?

Is there a way to get more Inventory space? I've always wished for an Aug alternative, or something (like a Perk), that'd let me carry just 3-4 additional single-space items, such as consumables.

    More questions to come later.

Best way to experience original game?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 05:49 PM PDT

So I have been playing DX GOTY vanilla version and just made it to Hong Kong I believe it is. I will probably finish out this playthrough, but I understand the game has some replayability to it. So what is the "definitive" edition/version of the game? I see there is a Revised version I n Steam, also a mod called Give Me Deus Ex (unless these are the same thing?) Anyways, I just want to know what the best iteration of the game is (best mechanics, graphics, maps etc)
