    Mankind Divided sequel ideas

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 07:45 PM PDT

I know that this topic has probably been covered on this sub various times with great detail and depth, but I feel like sharing some of my ideas.

    1. Whatever Adam's main mission/end goal is in this game, his actions should directly or indirectly help cause the rift between the Illuminati and MJ12.

    • I say indirectly because I know how people are with wanting things to be able to stand on their own w/o needing to tie into other installments too much.

    2. TF29 becomes disbanded, or compromised. Dr. Auzenne has a key role in it. Maybe have it transform into/merge with UNATCO.

    3. Director Miller (if he's canonically alive) suffers from the dissolution of TF29, and he remains in contact with Jensen, using what little connections and ties he still has to aid Adam in his mission.

    4. There's a new movement for mechanically augmented people to move away from mankind and essentially live in solitude among each other in their own society. Like how in DXMD there was the Utulek Complex, but this new isolated city is more Amish Paradise (maybe not the best metaphor bc of technology lol) and less prison camp. It will be non-corrupt and run by augs only (ofc not anyone like Talos).

    • In DX1 there are hardly any mech augs, much less any kind of augmented people, with most NPCs being human. The secession of augs to their own society will help establish why we don't see many augs in the DX1 world. And this movement would still happen over 20 years ago before DX1 (2052), so there's enough time passed to justify why there wouldn't really be any reason for the aug conflict to be mentioned in DX1. After all, the main problem plaguing the world is the Gray Death by then.

    5. Akin to how DX1 was never about the issues and stigma of being augmented (like HR and MD are), this new sequel would have the plight of aug people lessened to be focused on in side missions instead. Some of the side missions would be about helping the movement mentioned earlier.

    6. "Revisit" some locations from DX1. Maybe have a brief part of the game take place in Area 51, which would also help bring back the conspiracy theory motif to the series.

    7. Adam will die fighting the Illuminati, perhaps sacrifice himself for a particular purpose. And it doesn't even have to be definite, it can just be part of a few endings out of multiple ones, like in HR.

    8. Introduce nano-augmentations, as a sort of antagonizing force to Adam. Like have a boss he faces be a nano-aug; someone obviously not on the same level of ability and skill as the Dentons, but more of an unstable prototype. Also, Jensen is starting to realize he may be nothing more than a prime specimen of an obsolete people/stage of human development.

    • If Jensen doesn't die, he could be neutralized (and forcibly retired) through some means of nanotechnology sabotaging his mechanical system. I recall some posts and comments about this subject mentioning they'd rather see Adam retiring instead of dying.

    Hell's Kitchen tips?

So, I got kinda bugged about some aspects of the map/mission: 1) There is an alleged path through the sewers, but even after killing and looting all NSF agents up to and including the part where there is a lift that leads from a laser-gated cellar- directly to the roof- I don't have the key for the sewer gates. 2) Some of the NPC's should have given me a password for the smugglers den, but after helping every civilian NPC I could find (including saving a girl, a bum, and a hotel manager)- I didn't get the password.

Really recommend MOD Hardcore Revival for Deus Ex Human Revolution. It makes the game harder and augmentations more specialized for any returning players. Also playing stealthy does not net you more XP this time to balance all the playstyles. There's the same mod for Mankind Divided too.

Was this supposed to scare the hell out of me?

If Mankind Divided part 2 is ever released, think we'll get another full suite of music?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 04:26 AM PDT

I think we can all agree that the entire series has amazing soundtracks. (I know, invisible war isn't too memorable but let's dismiss that for now)

Human Revolution and Mankind Divided have the most gorgeous ambient tunes I've ever heard in any game.

And the original game completely blows everything out of the water as well.

Even Breach is pleasant to listen to. Give the music a shot even if you haven't played that expansion yourself.

So... Think DXMD pt2 will revisit existing DXMD music, or create a batch of new ones? I'd assume at the very least, if there are new locations, we'd need new music to fit those areas. But I could also see some of the existing Mankind Divided scores being remixed just a tad to suit the sequel.
