What were the Human Revolution developers thinking?! Posted: 17 Jun 2021 01:34 AM PDT I've just finished the original DX again, I opted to try out DX:Revision mod (I know, I know alot of folk hate it) I will say I liked some of the redesigns of the levels, Paris and Hong Kong are notably gorgeous and really stand out. Anyhow my point is that DX feels like a valid 2052, the world isn't too dissimilar from our own bar cyber augmentation, the implementation of experimental plasma weapon tech but barring that it feels like an extremely realistic dipiction of perhaps our own world and where we are heading. Military forces are still using ballistic assault rifles as standard, kevlar vests are the norm, there is widespread implementation of robotics and machine within the military and law enforcement (we have extremely sophisticated drones now being used by the police and military.) I think Warren Spector did a fantastic job bringing the world to life but keeping it grounded within a plausible reality that we could relate to. Moving on now to Edios Montreal and their depiction of 2029 world... Yikes... What went wrong here? Now don't get me wrong I could envision the world looking this way in 2050s or 2060s but 2029? The game was released in 2011... You're telling me they could reasonably expect to see Shanghai suddenly take on an urban development project as huge as adding another city suspended above the old one? Now I get it, it's a game but why make that design decision? The appeal of Parish and Manhatten was that it really could be our world, it wasn't hugely different to what we have now just with an extra layer of grime, corruption on top. The world of DX:HR however felt far more fantasy than it did actual reality. Does anyone else feel this way? Did Edios Montreal miss the mark here? [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 16 Jun 2021 04:29 AM PDT Recently downloaded the GMDX mod for Deus Ex 1, and everything was going smoothly until I realized how blown out the text size is. The UI is fine, and I've altered countless settings in the config directory, yet the description and subtitle text size remains so massive that I can't even read it. Any fixes for this?
