First of all I loved the game

Now I know of GMDX and a New mod called Dues Ex Transcended if you want to recommend a mod based on how jank free it is which one will it be?

I know that both slightly alter the levels

What do you think of the later half of Deus Ex? (2000)

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 03:06 PM PST

I just finished the game months after getting it on GOG, and while I personally loved it and - apart from the optimization - think it aged fine, the latter half was less enjoyable for me. Up until Hong Kong and the first parts of Paris, you got recurring characters, interaction with NPCs, side quests, and the pace of the game alongside with the mysterious plot drew you in.

Not saying that the writing falls apart later on, but more like you get thrown (mostly) linear dungeon after linear dungeon with tons of enemies. I amassed 35 hours in the game so I did pretty much all side exploration, and after Paris the rewards for doing so were unsatisfactory to say the least. You still get credit chits in Area 51 when the last vendor you find is past gone. It kinda reminded me of Fallout 3's DLCs and its level designs.

Anyways, I still enjoyed the game greatly apart from the tediousness at the end. What did you think of it?

    Environment Storytelling Done Right

I always respect games that take its time to do environment storytelling not just as an easter eggs, but as an actual story to expands the world building.

Mankind Divided's environment storytelling is great and one of the most memorable one for me is this one about a troubled family/couple having breakdowns because the woman is pregnant and the man couldn't stand bringing a child into Golem City.

    It's tragic, violent and subtle.
