Even after 20 years this game has aged really well. I started over again on Realistic and I haven't played a game like it. I love the mix of RPG and shooter and stealth style combat

I made a song based off the atmosphere/vibe I felt during the Hengsha level in Deus Ex: The Human Revolution. Thanks for listening!

How would you tackle this series for the first time in 2020?

    Hello everyone!

I think it's time for me to go on this journey with the Deus ex series. It's basically my first (serious) attempt ever and I'd like to play all of the good games (apparently there was an installment in 2004 or so that I should skip, that people are not too fond of?). Many years back, I had a copy of Human Revolution on my Xbox, but didn't play it for more than a couple of hours, max, so that doesn'tcount for me.

Although I'm afraid of spoiling things (I'd like to know as little as possible, even about features of the games etc.), I did some dig up to understand where things stand at. I realized the games' stories chronological order isn't the order they were released in, so here's a question:

    (1) Do I follow the order they were released in or should I follow the timeline and then may have HR as a "less primitive, less raw" experience for a firstcomer? (if that's even a thing)

And second, and I realize this might not be unanimous among you guys (lol), I'm considering using mods.

    (2) Do I go for 100% vanilla? Is modding graphics only a good option? Are there good QOL mods you'd recommend that don't change the core of the game? I don't feel like "suffering" through bad aspects of the game if they're easily avoidable, but if I'm told they're somewhat important for whatever reason, I'd play along)

If there's anything else anyone would like to add, something maybe you'd have liked yourself to know before jumping in for the first time, please let me know!

    Thanks for the help!

    Order of playing the games?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2020 04:26 AM PDT

Hi, so i was planning on playing deus ex mankind after a friend recommended it to me.And i was wondering if its a requirement to play the older gams before playing it.Im not much into too old games when it comes to fps genre so i would like to skip like 2003 version or any other older ones which aren't polished enough.

But if the games are stand alone and have their separate story line then i'll take recommendations on which ones should i play.If not then i would like to be recommended which is the most convenient order (excluding the decade old ones)
