Deus Ex I had to say it

    I had to say it

To be fair, Deus Ex is one of the best, if not the greatest PC game of all time.

To be fair, Deus Ex is one of the best, if not the greatest PC game of all time. Everything about Deus Ex is sublime, from the amazing combat to the intuitive and complex augmentation mechanics to the dialogue system, which simply has no compare in its excellency. However, that isn't the only thing that is perfect about Deus Ex. The intellectual themes of the story are deftly interwoven throughout the game, and are incomparable in their nuance and intellectualism. The game draws heavily from such works as the X-Files and The Man Who Was Thursday, for instance. In fact, if someone asked me, I would say that Deus Ex surpasses those works, and is a superior medium to understand the secrets of the universe with than any text, holy, religious, spiritual, whatever, in all of existence. I am not just convinced of this, and I don't just "believe" in this. I am thoroughly aware of how superior and how sublime Deus Ex is. It tackles and shows the weaknesses and flaws inherent in all of our great philosophies of the past: hedonism, nihilism, religion, solipsism, spirituality, and stoicism are all critically examined by Deus Ex and deconstructed, creating an überphilosophy, one that is greater than the sum of its parts, one that can truly help you to understand LIFE. I have taken it on myself to spend hours decoding and examining Deus Ex, to better grasp just how – how could mere mortals achieve this?

I have a theory, about Warren Spector. It explains how someone could attempt to even begin to process, to create, to understand the immense and incredible interworkings of the universe of Deus Ex. As we all know, Harvey Smith was the lead designer of Deus Ex, and as such, the one who defined it. So, here, we have the first piece of the puzzle – Harvey Smith, a designer. So, we move on to the next piece of the puzzle, the project lead, Warren Spector. Let's dismiss all of the silly memes, jokes, and the like surrounding his later games, because, well, those jokes and memes won't help us solve the bigger picture. How about we examine his role in Deus Ex more closely? Warren gave Harvey the ability, the power to shape Deus Ex the way he wished – to usher forth the modern understanding of immersive sims as a genre. But, did he know, did he understand the power that the game was tapping into? Did he know about the potential of Deus Ex? Perhaps this laid-back, amusing, and not particularly truthful project lead has more to him than we see. Perhaps there is something there, something beneath the surface, waiting to be unearthed.

How can we possibly hope to fully comprehend Deus Ex in a thousand lifetimes, let alone the abysmally short lifetime we have individually? Deus Ex is perfect, the greatest peak of humanity's ability to create art, a pure, sublime, and utterly excellent display of humanity's greatest, airy peaks, and most depressing, abysmal lows. Whenever I play Deus Ex, in fact, whenever I think of Deus Ex, I get a feeling – a strong feeling, a frightening one, that forces me to wonder: perhaps, am I unearthing the knowledge of a higher power? Is Deus Ex the work of a deity, carefully altering and controlling the development cycle, in order to get out its greatest message, its knowledge and will?

But the worst part, the thing that truly scares me, is the attempt by Square Enix to, perhaps, dull or dumb down the series. I understand that Deus Ex is unable to be truly copied or done again, but, well, does that excuse the horrific mistakes and dulling down that Human Revolution and Mankind Divided imposed on the series? We need to work to preserve Deus Ex, and we need to fight against the kids and casuals that don't want to, can't begin to, understand Deus Ex and its subtleties.

Save file needed for Deus Ex Mankind Divided.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 12:01 AM PDT

Hello everyone. I'd just finished mission 10(having already completed all the available side missions except SM03) when I lost all my save files. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out with one of their own. :)

Please note that I'm going for a pacifist playthrough.

[Mankind Divided] Found a pocket secretary that seemingly no one else has.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 12:27 PM PDT

I found this pocket secretary outside of Tech Noir on the second visit to Prague. I searched around the area, trying to find the keypad it would work with and came up empty. Then I had the thought, maybe this is for the panel on the roof of the auto shop you have to hack in the Samizdat side mission. Reloaded some saves, tore ass through story stuff, and, sure enough, the pocket secretary shows up after you give K the evidence from Palisade. I tested it on the first and second visit and it works for both.

I tried searching around using the 7777 code and then parts of the message but didn't really find much, aside from some people who found the code using Cheat Engine. I'm not sure if anyone else has found this and just never posted about it anywhere, but it was a pretty cool thing to find after playing through this game a bunch of times!

Here's an album with the location of the secretary and using the panel.

Question about A Criminal Past ending

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 07:27 PM PDT

I just finished the Criminal Past DLC and I guess I had some quick questions (I tried searching but couldn't find any answers that fit), so maybe heavy spoilers but the risk!

I went with the option of telling her I brought Guerrero back. She acts (or genuinely is) surprised but moves on and this leads to Jensen posing to her what would you do if you suspected an agent was bad and could eliminate them. She seemed to respond as if he's asking what she would do with Guerrero. Jensen's response appeared to me to indicate that he is now convinced that Delara is not a legit agent of TF which results in her making the call as he steps out.

So the question I have is, and maybe I missed something, does Jensen know (or perhaps just only suspects) she is Illuminati or just that she is a double agent or mole?

I remember she refers to Joe (Manderley) in Miller's office earlier in the game, and I think I found some pocket secretaries or emails with some details but I don't remember anything that specifically would let Jensen know she is an Illuminati mole.

Outside of that, I agree with the notion that Jensen is an unwitting sleeper agent for the Illuminati now based on the credits cutscene from the main story and the no SARIF serial numbers for his Augs. But given that the ACP mission seemed so unusual to the extent that it might be fabricated or altered (perhaps similar to Daria) and some posts suggest this, I guess the next question is, why would they fabricate/insert this memory or even ask him to recall the details? Is there any further details on this that maybe I missed? Thanks.

Overall, I thought DE:MD was great and the ACP DLC was pretty intriguing.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Deluxe Edition - Xbox One Digital Code is 75% off

Tips for getting Mankind Divided to run well on PC?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 06:37 AM PDT

I have a 5700xt, all my drivers are updated, this game shouldn't be a problem when it comes to running it, but I constantly get frame drops and either long freezes or complete crashes. I disabled MSAA which let me actually play it in the first place but it still runs horribly.

    Someone sell me on DX:HR.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 02:11 PM PDT

I was so excited to play it when it came out. Happy during the opening parts; stealthing around, doing takedowns.

Midway through the game I noticed I just wasn't really feeling like it and at the end I just didn't care for much of it.

There didn't seem to really be a particularly interesting plot to speak of. Evil power-hungry CEO woman is doing evil things. Darrow does evil things to show the world what's what but can have his mind changed completely on his massive undertaking in a single conversation, like his character has no real history of weighing his decisions. Character is revealed to be an AI and this seems to mean nothing particularly interesting to the story. Then there are women tied to a machine screaming for some reason. Ending is well known as bad.

Really, the whole thing felt like it was the videogame version of lip service to what Deus Ex was, while throwing continuity out the window with how new augged characters look compared to the mechanical augs in DX1. Everyone's outfit is absolutely ridiculous where in DX1 most people are wearing jeans and a shirt. Etc...

Am I missing something? Was I just stupid playing through Human Revolution?

IW: Mako Ballistics MagRail Scientist gone?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 07:12 AM PDT

Cant find him. Restarted the level, twice. Went STRAIGHT to the magrail room from the beginning. The glass was allread down, and he was nowhere to be seen. Seriously. Where the hell is he? Do I have to side with the WTO or whatever on this level?
