    Theory about the Gold Masks

    Posted: 10 Oct 2020 06:56 PM PDT

I think I figured out who is really controlling the Gold Masks.

Hear me out, but: I think it's David Sarif.

    Here's my reasoning:

-David Sarif is still acting like a mentor figure to Adam Jensen. At first, this seems to be a strike against it, as he appears to be helping Adam in uncovering what exactly has been going on. However, this doesn't really disprove him being Illuminati. Mankind Divided pretty much beats you over the head with clues that Adam Jensen is an Illuminati sleeper agent. What's a common feature of a sleeper agent in spy fiction? There's a handler controlling them. And who would make a better handler, someone to keep tabs on Adam, then Sarif? Can't be Megan, she cut off with Adam entirely. Same with Pritchard. Speaking of Pritchard, a very telling line in Sarif's dialogue with Jensen is that Pritchard was the one of the four (Megan, Jensen, himself and Pritchard) who changed the least. In other words, Sarif is a changed man. And to keep the sleeping Jensen from finding out the truth, Sarif keeps the facade of the mentor figure, giving Jensen breadcrumbs as to what may have happened to him. Not enough so Jensen has all the answers, but enough to convince Jensen that Sarif is on his side. This also means Sarif can gently nudge Jensen to dead ends while still keeping credibility.

-In talking to Jensen in his side quest in Mankind Divided, he notes that the aug suite that Jensen has cannot be the same one he had in Human Revolution. Now, he could be lying, but I don't think so. However, this doesn't explain the big elephant in the room: The replacement augs, minus the experimental stuff of course, are most obviously Sarif-made, as confirmed by Koller. So the hundred thousand credit question then becomes: Where the hell did they get an *exact one to one* copy of Adam's top-shelf suite?

-We were told Sarif was going to be in London for Nathaniel Brown's Safe Harbor Initiative function. Yet, he's conspicous in his absence when you make it to the shindig. Kind of weird that a mover and shaker like him, a charismatic one at that, under the auspices of being employed by Brown... isn't there. Unless his role was to be part of the plot against the Intiative.

-Bit convenient that David Sarif survived Panchaea, but Darrow and Taggart didn't, is it?

-The last clue I find points to this is a bit esoteric, but bears mentioning. The Gold Masks are most well known by their, well, gold masks. Who else is wearing a lot of gold in Mankind Divided? And masks are known as a symbol of deception.

Deus Ex UNATCO conversation theme question

    Posted: 10 Oct 2020 03:22 PM PDT

On my quest to remake the entire OST for DX1 I'm covering the UNATCO conversation theme next. I'd like to do a version where I have conversations taking place during the track. Does anyone know if I can get audio for just the conversations without the music easily (without having to play and rip it myself in-game)? Also what conversation would you recommend me use?
