Never Understood the Hype of Deus Ex Posted: 19 Jul 2020 09:10 AM PDT I have been gaming 20+ years, (PC, Nintendo, PS, mostly all generations) I remember my friend introduced Deus Ex to me, I was around 12 that time, around 2001, and back then I was more into Half Life and its fast-paced multiplayer. I immediately discarded the game, it felt too slow and clunky. Fast forward to 2020, this game has been haunting me online. Everyone STILL talks about it. I realized they have a "remastered" (GOTY?) version. Decided to give a try, I went past the first mission, and I am thoroughly enjoying it! I was about to watch "lets play" videos instead of trying it, and I am glad I didnt do so. So far, definitely on my top 10 games of all time. [link] [comments]

Posted: 19 Jul 2020 02:22 PM PDT Hey everyone! By any chance, does anybody have 3D models of DX:MD characters? I'm looking for Adam Jensen and Eliza Cassan (Helle). There was a link in this sub to download it, but it three years old and doesn't work now. If anybody has these models, please, tell me, I can't find it via search engines. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Jul 2020 07:56 AM PDT So, I had a bit of difficulty getting everything to work flawlessly on my setup at first. I'm using Arch Linux, and I use Lutris to launch my wine games. Anyway, everything SEEMED fine at first, but then everything got really dark. Like darker than usual. As in, "Pitch black, cat in a coal mine, RGB 00000" black in segments that were supposed to have at least a little light. So naturally, I tried adjusting the brightness in the menu. That did NOTHING. So, after messing around with the various different rendering options, I somehow got it working at a reasonable brightness again. Then it broke itself again for no apparent reason. So I had to mess around some more. I don't know how this happened, but at one point when I was messing with every option known to man, I discovered that the in-game brightness menu was changing MY ENTIRE DESKTOP's brightness settings. That was the epiphany I needed. I was never able to replicate the above situation, but I knew what to do now. All I had to do was manually adjust my desktop's brightness before and after playing. I found that the easiest way was to use a command-line program called xgamma. It's very simple. Before starting the game, run "xgamma -gamma 1.5" to set your brightness to a value of 1.5 (with 1.0 being normal). Change this to any other number to accomodate your preferences. Then after the game exits, run "xgamma -gamma 1.0" to reset your brightness back to normal. Fortunately, Lutris has built-in options to run pre-launch and post-exit scripts, so I just stuck those commands inside of bash script files, and it handles those automatically. I doubt many people are going to use my advice here. I don't care though. I'm mainly posting this becuase I get the feeling that I'm going to forget this at some point, and this way I'll have written down the steps I took. [link] [comments]

Posted: 19 Jul 2020 10:31 AM PDT I've tried like 3 or 4 fresh installs, GMDx 9, GMDX 10, 10 is way worse than 9, but I drop from like 120-144 at the starting area in vanilla to like 60-100 in GMDX v9 and way worse in GMDX v10, wtf? Is there a way to not lose performance or is it just the mod itself that's causing this? I thought I'd get a performance boost with the mod tbh. d3d10 performs pretty well but it's extremely stuttery and basically unplayable. GTX 1080, 3700x [link] [comments] |
