Characters' voice problem in the first Deus Ex Posted: 25 May 2020 08:05 AM PDT Hi there. I had just started my adventure with the Deus Ex series by playing the first game. I'm playing completely blindly, but this game gives me so much fun I hadn't felt in any video game before. Although, I experience a weird issue which doesn't touch the gameplay itself, but compromises the feeling from the game in some way. It is all about the NPCs' voice lines, but not these in dialogues with J.C. or other NPCs, these ones are untouched. However, when the NPC is in the "idle" state, the sounds seem not to work properly. For example, a guard is supposed to whistle (I can see that on a pop-up window) but he instead screams or says something which isn't even connected with the dialogue shown on a text or related to the situation. The same thing happens when guards see me and they are supposed to say "I think I saw a guy in the coat", but they say something different, like "Knock it off" or "These UNATCO guys are capable of everything". This is really disturbing and destroys in some way my feeling about this great game. I would just ignore it, but maybe you could help me. I have done some tests with game files and it seems that my problem is connected somehow with the file DeusExConAudioAIBarks.u from the System folder. Recopying this file from my game copy didn't help. It may be connected with the polish fan translation I am using, on unstranslated copy of the game this problem doesn't occur. (Maybe there are some polish Deus Ex fans there?) Please help me guys, thank you. [link] [comments] | ||

Using Biomod in DX1 causes weird hitching for some reason Posted: 25 May 2020 12:02 PM PDT It's weird too because I could almost swear the last time I played DX1 with Biomod back in 2015 it ran perfectly fine, but now in 2020 I suddenly have this weird problem that when Biomod is installed I get weird framerate hitching during combat, especially when a bullet is fired or JC gets hit. I'm also using Deus Exe, the Direct X 10 renderer, and New Vision, but after process of elimination I found Biomod is the problem. It sucks too because I actually like the changes Biomod makes (like mantling, which I like having since that was something that was really useful in the old Thief games), so is anyone aware of any fixes? And before anyone suggests "why not just play Revision or GMDX?" I already played Revision and TBH I wasn't digging the level design changes, and while I know GMDX keeps the level design mostly vanilla I heard some people say the changes to the AI makes the game feel unfair in some parts and makes stealth harder than before (also while I know GMDX incorporates New Vision, it also has some design changes that keep it not as vanilla as I'd like, which yes I know might sound like an odd complaint from someone whose preferred way of playing DX1 is using Biomod but eh I like to hope you get what I mean).
