Posted: 07 May 2020 01:46 AM PDT I know it's enjoyed by the community of dedicated fans, but a lot of people who aren't DX fanboys see it as this sorta bastardization of the original message of the first game. So why is it seen so poorly by most people? [link] [comments]
I had no idea about pacifist XP Posted: 07 May 2020 12:43 AM PDT So apparently you make almost double the XP using non-lethal takedowns and weapons like the tranquilizer gun. And all this time I was wasting my time with the silenced pistols for stealth! lol. [link] [comments]
I played Mankind Divided and very much liked it, which deus ex game should I try next? Posted: 06 May 2020 11:44 AM PDT I think I should mention that I don't care for graphics. [link] [comments]
GMDX v10 - impressions so far (+ kill Gunther in Mission #1) Posted: 07 May 2020 02:23 AM PDT Hi All, My 2nd playthrough of Deus Ex 1 masterpiece - this time with GMDX v 10 (1st was with GMDX 9).I did not find a consolidated thread where people would be sharing their impressions of v10 so thought I would start one: - I am Mission #3 only but so far no major bugs (except a missing tooltip - you need to have Athtletics to TRAINED to be able to use mantle ;-). Encountered minor Audio issues (as if 'cracking sounds' in loud speakers) - solved by decreasing quality to 8bit and reducing # of channels to 32. - Love the way you can turn on/off modded aspects from within game menu (e.g. Feats, Mantling) . This way if you turn everything off, you are essentially playing Vanilla with bugs fixed and better graphics. Creators of this patch, take my money!! - HD models of NPCs looking really slick - a pity not all DX1 characters are available yet <Off-topic> In Mission #1, wouldn't it just be fun to kill Gunther? :-) I tried as follows: - In the room before his cell , I activated the turret and set it to Enemy. Also placed TNT crates by the cell door. - I walk into his cell, do not talk to him - Gunther starts following me, walking super slowly - I exit the cell and shoot TNT crates when he is near to them -> Gunther starts attacking me & the turret is firing at him like crazy... but seems like his health is ifninite :-/. Poor lemon lime bastard!! </Off-topic> What are your impressions of GMDX v10 so far? [link] [comments]

Is it worth playing the franchise? Posted: 06 May 2020 10:04 PM PDT I wonder if the other games in the Deus Ex franchise are as good as the 2000 game. I loved the cyberpunk atmosphere of conspiracy from the first game, the story, etc ... Which games are worth trying? Do the other games follow the line of the first? PS: I don't care about gameplay, graphics. Only with history, conspiracies and cyberpunk atmosphere. [link] [comments]

Is Gunther Herman invincible in battery park? Posted: 06 May 2020 09:21 AM PDT Once you make your way to battery park after betraying UNATCO you are met with a supposed to lose fight against Gunther Herman and other UNATCO forces. I was curious to try and see if I could kill Gunther in this part of the game but not even a lam and a sniper headshot could kill him. Is Gunther invincible during this section? DX:MD. How do I play Desperate measures? Posted: 06 May 2020 09:38 PM PDT Just finished the jensen story system rift. I got the season pass and am about to play criminal past. However I see no way to get the story called Desperate measures, even though it looks pretty cool. Anyone know how to get it? It isn't included in season pass. [link] [comments]
Non-lethal approach breaking the immersion? Posted: 06 May 2020 04:50 AM PDT First, a little back story: when I first played Deus Ex, it was right after I played Dishonored, so I continued with my newfound non-lethal approach to gaming. Paul seemed like a cool bro, Anna Navarre and Gunther were just warmongers with a badge... but then I tried the lethal playthrough and holy moly, is it not 100 times easier, not to mention the ability to finally be able to use all that cool weaponry you keep upgrading whole game... Paul seemed shady right from the start due to his comments, while Anna and Gunther still seemed like total dicks. Anyway, this made me think: Does anyone feel like the non-lethal approach clashes with the immersion? And I'm not talking about the availability of cool weapons you never use (like in Dishonored), but the world itself. I mean right at the begining, fricking armed militia raids the headquarters of the paramilitary branch of the UN, and your brother complains whenever you use something else than a baton and a prod? There are guys who KILLED some of the UNATCO troops, and he wants you to go easy on them? Later they besiege the NY, and he issues tear gas to his troops, while the NSF has assault rifles? Then the Carter complains you went shooting inside castle Clinton where the NSF patrols have pistols and a FLAMETHROWER and they shoot you on sight? I didn't have a problem with non-lethal approach in Dishonored due to the fact that it is a game about sneaking around anyway and the guards are quite innocent (well, most of them, usually... They are the law enforcement, and yes, I'm idealizing it a bit but you get the idea), while in Deus Ex they are an armed force trying to shatter the attempts at keeping the society running during the pandemic (how thematic during these days), at least from the point of view of JC? Later, you send a message to warn the newfound good guys and Simon's orders the troops to kill you... even when you just jump off the building and run back, you can still get into shootouts on the street and you have to get into a shootout if you want to keep Paul alive... Anyway, I'm not saying that the game is supposed to be played with a "kill on sight" approach, but rather that this approach seems completely justified due to the reasons I listed (prod vs flamethrower etc. approach)? Even real police would go in guns blazing... I mean I get it, you are a special agent, who could be able to sneak around and choke out everyone, but still, you also got equiped with advanced weapon upgrades, scopes, silencers etc.... So, to ask once again, does the whining of some characters about you going in shooting rather than prodding break the immersion for you like it does for me? [link] [comments]
Is it true rhat Deus Ex is discontinued? Posted: 06 May 2020 03:09 AM PDT Yesterday I beat Mankind Divided (on Give Me Deus Ex difficulty with only stealth except for the very end) and loved every bit of it, tough I do regret not playing the previous games and not exploring the lore before jumping into it. Anyways, after beating it I thought that there's a chance for a sequel (for obvious reasons) and now I read that MD sequel was canceled. Just to confirm, is it true? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 May 2020 07:20 AM PDT Play as Alex Denton and choose to kill the Denton brothers who were the good guys in Deus Ex? If Alex chose to do it does that make him or the Denton brothers evil in the game? Playing as JC in the first game knowing he might become your enemy makes me feel awkward... [link] [comments]
When did JC Denton take the Red Pill? Posted: 06 May 2020 06:27 AM PDT Was it when he sent the NSF Signal, potentially listen to Lebedev, or listen to Paul at his apartment? [link] [comments] |
