i played and beat the first game! have a small list of comments, rants, and brags

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 05:23 AM PDT

    • throughout the entire game, i had a moderate collection of forties.
    • i picked the dart gun.
    • i went in the ladies' bathroom and got chewed out for it.
    • i played this game once about five years ago, and only got to the end of Vandenberg. i really liked the soundtrack so i downloaded and put it in my playlist. whenever the final levels' songs would come up, i felt the need to skip them... for five years. worth it tho; last songs are great.
    • for some reason, i only had like.. two augmentations for around 75% of the game i think. no idea why; guess i missed the early ones?
    • i had flashlight and strength. i was happy with em though; picking up massive objects was fun.
    • i saved jock on first go! a bomb
    • the Simons fight sucked. i finally beat him with a few dragon tooth swings to the head. i came out with both arms gone, no med kits, and one red leg. after escaping the ocean lab, i had to play the entire missile silo mission in this state, with only like 2 med kits in the whole level to help me. i think this is when i finally upgraded my healing ability.
    • to add insult to injury, at the end of the ocean base mission, Jock said something to the effect of "c'mon. let's go relax and celebrate at Vandenberg." dumbass JC with, again, no arms and 1 red leg, said "no. we're going to Area 51 now." i was shocked to say the least.
    • that part of the game blew, but i think i just suck.
    • however those spider drones are actually garbage. god i hated them. i really wish i had the GEP gun for them.
    • i picked Helios because i was kinda done at this point, and.. i'unno, it sounded right.
    • i played and beat the game on Realistic
    • i used 350 save games in 40 hours

thank you for reading. all in all, i loved this game. it'll stick with me.

Games YOU consider part of the Immersive Sim genre, but never see on any list?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 08:46 AM PDT

    We all know the classics like System Shock 2 or Deus Ex, but as you might know the concept of "immersive sim" is harder to define, unlike other genres like stealth games or RPGs. Because of this I'm asking the members of this community one question;

What games do YOU consider part of the Immersive sim genre (or atleast influenced by it), but never see on any list alongside the well known examples like the Deus Ex series?

    Invisible War mods?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 04:00 AM PDT

While it's not the best game in the series, I still like getting back to IW every now and again. I always install JohnP's texture pack. I think I only used the original textures for my very first playthrough.

Are there any newer mods that improve the game's graphics or anything else?
