- I wanted to show off my everyday Jensen-inspired outfit (minus the sunglasses). Not intended as Halloween post, just coincidental :)
- Left Behind: World at War with Deus Ex Sound Effects [TPS Episode 3]
- I played DEMD first and want to play HR AFTER, but will it feel dated?
- How developed do you think Cyberpunk 2077 stealth mechanics will be in comparison to Deus Ex: MD? (A video I made with Deus Ex gameplay and soundtrack) :D
- Deus Ex is the poster child for the phrase "Gameplay is not story", the idea that the that story and gameplay are two different worlds and that things that happen while you are playing don't count towards the story or character.
Interview with Warren Spector describes initial Deus Ex game trilogy story plans Posted: 31 Oct 2019 05:55 AM PDT Someone may have posted this June 2019 interview with Warren Spector before but I found it today and think it is fascinating. I am starting to consider trying to create a brand new mod to recreate this vision of a Deus Ex sequel, instead of my prior plan to helm an Invisible War remake. This game sounds interesting as heck and way more fun to design. They discuss several things, including System Shock 3, which he is apparently involved with at the moment. The link is at the bottm. Is there anything you can tell me about your original trilogy plans? I know it's been a while. WS: Yeah, in retrospect, thank God we didn't do it. It's kind of stupid. But the interesting, kind of stupid, thing was at the time I was intrigued by the Arthur C. Clarke quote about, you know, 'science that's sufficiently advanced is indistinguishable from magic.' And so what I wanted to do was get JC Denton basically ascends to God or Godhead, and in one of the endings in Deus Ex, you can kind of see the roots of that. And I wanted to get him off the planet, to a world where magic really exists. And he's the ultimate, epitome of science and there's a world where magic actually works, and what happens when those come into conflict? And thank God we didn't do that because it's basically a terrible idea. But that was kind of where I was headed with it. Yeah, but would have destroyed the franchise. Actually, I've always liked something that invokes the biblical. WS: Biblical stories are powerful. JC Denton, right? ...Oh, I can't believe I just got that. WS: Well, there are a variety of reasons why he's called JC Denton. Any of those that you can share? WS: The team had their reasons. And the fact that it's possible for JC to make big sacrifices at the end, you know, for the sake of mankind. There's an obvious reference there. But one of my best friends in Austin is a guy named Brad Denton, he's a wonderful writer. Everybody should go look for Bradley Denton's work. Blackburn, Lunatics, Laughing Boy, go read these books. But anyway, he's really the most helpful person in the world. Behind his back, now he'll know but, behind his back, I call him Helpful Guy. And to myself, when he volunteers for something really crazy I just mutter to myself; 'Jesus Christ Denton, what are you doing?' So, JC Denton was kind of an in-joke about that. As I said, the team had their reasons, I had my reasons. It all sort of worked in the context of the game. So JC definitely did. https://wccftech.com/interview-warren-spector-system-shock-3-deus-ex-trilogy/ [link] [comments]

I played DEMD first and want to play HR AFTER, but will it feel dated? Posted: 31 Oct 2019 10:56 PM PDT Since the game is older from 2011, will it look terrible if I'm used to MR? I really want to play it once I finished MR and the dlcs but not sure what to expect as I never play games older than 2014. [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Oct 2019 01:36 AM PDT I say this because in A Criminal Past or in Mankind Divide you can kill so many police officers, so many innocent people who don't deserve it. And I get that he is undercover in A Criminal Past, but no amount of suspension of disbelief can get over the fact of all the murders. For me personally, I wish lethally taking down the guards in Criminal Past was not an option, so the only way I can reconcile the fact that Adam Jenson is a good guy, yet he goes around sniping police in the head is to believe that gameplay and story are completely disconnected. So for me these games go to show that gameplay and story exist in 2 different worlds, and you should not assume that the gameplay influences your character. [link] [comments] |
