God Damn I Love Mankind Divided!

As someone who never played a Deus Ex game before two days ago, Mankind Divded has just blown me away with its terrific worldbuilding, cool-ass aesthetic, and one of my favorite gameplay systems ever.

The world is so engrossing, and I love Adam's cool, weird, Keanu thing he's got going on. I love how you can approach a fight from a million different ways, and that all of them are equally valid. I'm a guy that really got into Bethesda games-- I never had a PS3, so when I got Fallout 4 for Christmas, I had my first encounter with a truly open world video game. I loved how I could shape the story through dialogue options and really shape my character to my liking. I felt that even more when I picked up Skyrim for the first time last year-- it was so cool to change my approach on the fly, from bruiser to stealth to magic. It was the most open-ended game I'd experienced I'd say.

But man, Deus Ex has blown that game out of the water in terms of freedom in approach. The first level in Dubai blew me away, I loved being able to sneak through vents and take out guards one by one, then hide in hard to reach spots and pick them off with my Tranq gun (I kind of accidentally settled into a no Kill playthrough-- I mean the Tranq gun is just so good, it one shots literally every guy.)

I haven't approached a single mission in quite the same way. Even taking a general stealth approach provides such a variety of options that I've never once felt the game was getting repetitive. My fight in the train station retrieving the data for Smiley felt like a completely experience than my sneaking into the Palisades Bank, even though I was essentially doing the same thing (breaking into a place, trying to stay undetected, and then stealing some stuff). In the train station, I felt like this scary John Wick juggernaut, punching through walls and knocking out guards and rushing my way to the exit. Whereas with the bank heist, I felt more like a classic thief, scrappy, only getting away by the skin of my teeth.

I was so amazed that the game could feel so varied, and so I've totally fallen in love with it! I realize it ends a little abruptly, but I still can't wait to keep playing this game and discovering all it has to offer!

    GMDX "version"

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 02:59 PM PDT

I'm wanting to know wether I should play the latest official GMDX or GMDX "V10" COMMUNITY UPDATE.

I'm looking for anyone who has played both where they can judge what they think is best. Thanks for your time. This will be my first time playing modded Deus Ex.

Does anyone else hope for a remaster of at least the first two games and maybe HR?
