Where to find Deus Ex GOTY modding tools and tutorials?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 04:45 AM PDT

I want to contribute to the community by making mods of my own but I can't find any tutorials except mapping with UnrealEd, I aim to the make mods in the same vein as GMDX, focused on texture and model replacements

    Majestic 12 Ending

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 06:11 AM PDT

Does anyone else wish there was an ending for Deus Ex 1 where you could remain loyal to UNATCO and eventually become a conscious asset to MJ12, destroying the NSF and Silhouette, killing Paul and Tracer Tong, helping spread the virus and making sure Bob Page is able to merge with Helios?

Idk about the rest of you but this is the only ending that would truly resonate with me. Makes no sense why JC would throw away the amazing opportunity to work with esteemed individuals such as Bob Page and Walton Simons who are tirelessly striving towards a better world.

Why the fuck does everyone keep acting like I killed people?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 07:33 PM PDT

    For Mankind Divided.

I have never taken a life in-game and yet Talos just said in the cutscene, "As a courtesy, could you not kill any of my men?"

I've literally checked every body and Ive never even fired a lethal shot (no live rounds, just tranq and stun and EMP). So why is everyone acting like I'm a psycho killer?

What Were They Thinking With The Powerups?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 09:34 PM PDT

I'm calling wearable equipment powerups because that's exactly what they are. Once activated, you gain some sort of trait for a set amount of time, then it goes away. They are just like powerups from FPSs of the time. What I don't understand is why they thought that kind of mechanic fit into a non-pure FPS. Even the ability to simply turn them off and on would give them far, far more utility - as it is, you are basically taking a gamble every single time you use one. If you win the firefight to quickly, or get through the radiation too quickly, or get past whatever obstacle the equipment is supposed to help you with before the timer runs out, the rest of the item's charge is completely wasted, and you can do nothing about it. This makes investing in Environmental Training, which increases the time they last, nearly useless, since you will in all likelihood simply waste most of the extra time given. You will always be better off putting your skill points into something else and just using the aug counterparts (Cloak, Ballistic Protection, Auqualung, etc). But, increasing ET is required to actually make the equipment powerful (and they do become quite powerful at Master - Ballistic Armor, for instance, deflects 81% of damage!), so not investing in it makes actually carrying them around mostly pointless too, since they are of much less utility at Untrained, only worth carrying around if you have inventory to spare.

You don't even have to go full GMDX and allow them to be recharged with biocells; just let me TURN THEM OFF. Let me use them only when I need them.

PS, did no one ever test the tech goggles or something? They don't increase the gamma, so they are entirely useless.
