Human Revolution v Mankind Divided: a comparison in mood Posted: 18 Aug 2020 01:28 PM PDT I was feeling disappointed we are not getting a new Deus Ex game in a while, so I replayed HR and just started MD. MD looks better, plays better, but damn, it's depressing as hell! HR was a fun action-adventure. Sure there is the Tyrants attack on Sarif, but a terrorist bombing a public space is far more disturbing. It's very unlikely your place of business will be targeted by an elite military hit-squad taking orders from the Illuminati. Conversely, we all know terrorist bombings public spaces is a real thing that has happened countless times in history and tragically will probably happen again. After the opening, HR starts in the Sarif Office six months later, then moves on to Milwaukee Junction pretty soon after that. Comparing that to where MD drops you after the opening credits. Jensen is in his home, just hours after the bombing...you go through the apartment and explore a little. You're confronted by cops dressed for war, people cursing at you, and augs begging for spare change. AND THE MUSIC...in this first few hours of game...damn soo, soo, soo solemn and depressing. Exploring, reading emails, everyone has a sad, sad story. In HR there was levity, emails about work and life, not just "Dear Joe, here's how the situation is fucking me over, isn't life cruel?" over and over. So, yeah, I'm sure that is what they were going for, but damn, I would like to see another Deus Ex game and I would like it to bring back a little levity and humor. [link] [comments]
Does anyone know what font(s) are used in Deus Ex Mankind Divided (subtitles and UI)? Posted: 18 Aug 2020 10:07 PM PDT I remember Human Revolution used Eurostile Next Pro. But Mankind Divided uses another font away from Eurostile and uses a serif font. Now I believe this has been asked before, but unfortunately couldn't find the answer I am looking for in Reddit and/or Google Search. [link] [comments]
What is the Juggernaut Collective Welcome Package? Posted: 18 Aug 2020 10:51 PM PDT I've been looking for an actual answer on it and can't seem to find one. I go to the marked locations and my controller starts to vibrate but that seems to be it. Is there hidden loot there or what? [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Aug 2020 06:33 PM PDT So between speculation and canon, many people have come to the conclusion that Adam Jensen is not just one person but a series of clones, explaining how he "survived" a headshot and later a massive building falling on him and drowning him in Human Revolution. A fraction of the people in that group believe these clones to be controlled by the Illuminati. Is it possible that, at the end of this franchise, Adam will face a clone of himself as a boss? I know that might seem like a really wild stretch, but it's a thought I couldn't get out of my head ever since I ran into the whole "the body you find in the vault that looks like you was actually you" wiki page. My impression of the augmentations and their implementation in Mankind divided. Posted: 18 Aug 2020 08:35 PM PDT Compared to original ofcourse and this is just my personal view. Imo, they are, like the original, wildly unbalanced but also a touch stronger(gameplay wise) whilst being a touch less useable than in DX1. After playing the game twice, I think I can come up with why: mankind divided augs (specifically the ones that use bio energy) are quite powerful but, much like the multitools in the game, are more often used as solutions to puzzles than actual free-use abilities. They also remove a set amount of bio energy and bio energy cannot be easily refilled in MD due to not having the refill bots. This forces the player to play more restricted and the map designers to give more direct uses to entice the player. The result imo doesn't quite feel as free or open-ended. If MD had a robot giving you free refills, you can basically spam your augs between mission to mission, reducing the difficulty significantly. You can't quite do it with biocells (unless you abuse the tinkering aug) because the aforementioned increased drainage will leave you dry. Now, the game does try to supplement this with the little 'free use' bar that fills up like 1/5 of your total bar but this is quite a tiny amount. Great for single take-downs and doing stuff like passing cameras/lasers with glass camo or the eye-aug but terrible for 'heavy usage' as they require you to have a hefty bar in the first place. In DX1, as this wasn't an issue, it was fine to have multiple augs active or have places in missions where you can freely use some augs with leniency due to a robot nearby. You could cloak kill an entire surrounding base in Dx but its going to be far harder to do in MD due to bio cell limitations. Infact, in the last mission, as a test, I needed 17 biocells to achieve the "best" ending whilst completely cloaked and undetected. And I get it, it has to be strong because unlike DX1, cloak is a free win button. Robots can't see you. Lasers can't be tripped. One counter to this, is DX1 had many non-passive aug be passive augs in MD. However, many passive augs in MD are also specific solutions to specific situations and these are spelt out to you. A heavy box in your way to life. A crack on the wall to break. A convenient pipe below the enemy but it's filled with toxic gas. Direct answers to direct problems. It just feels a little too on-the-nose in level design. It also feels more like a way to entice players out of praxis kits than to give them "another tool in the arsenal" since it is so on the nose. I also take issue with some of the passives in MD. the passive Defence aug imo is worthless since the damage reduction is miniscule. In MD, being out of position whilst under attack quickly kills adam anyways so the aug realistically only buys you a few seconds. But the active defence aug? The armour around adam jensen that uses biocell per second? That is ridiculously powerful and will actually protect you. Now you can actually change your play style and stand up shooting back. Then you got things like the eye-aug in MD which is useful, the mini map augs displaying sound or vision cone which is tremendously helpful and also stuff like remote hacking - which actually adds a new way to play. These are the moments where I feel Adam jensen is an augmented agent doing infiltration. The augs don't directly answer the problem at hand but give you an edge on the guards. It is not an instant 'win' button. Personally I prefer the low-energy cost augs. You feel like a cyberpunk agent, rather than boring protagonist A in another shooter. I would have preferred more low-use augs in the game rather than powerful heavy energy augs that either take seconds to deplete your bar or take only a few uses before your bar is zero. Or maybe just ramp it up. Make the maps and enemies tougher but give adam ways to regenerate his bio energy better. I want to use my augs in DX rather than save it all the way to cheese the final mission or something. [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Aug 2020 09:51 PM PDT (disclaimer:haven't played any games before HR and I'm honestly not planning on it with how dated the games feel, so feel free to spoil it if it's relevant) I tried to look into it before asking here but everywhere I looked its about which HR ending is cannon, there seems to be little to no discussion on the topic for MD wherever I looked From what I understood, the ending you get will decide whether the human restoration act passes or not. If we save brown>HRA doesn't pass, rab'iah gets built I think? If we fail to save him>HRA passes, basically dooming augmented people into an even more miserable and segregated life. I highly doubt I got everything about the "good ending" right since it seems too good to be true in the world of deus ex, which makes me doubt that this ending would even happen in the first place. I know the game's ending has been a huge talking point about how unfinished it feels, but now that it seems like all hope is lost for a sequel with the avengers game right around the corner, do we at least have a Canon conclusion to MD that they were planning on expanding in a dlc or another game, or is it left up to us to decide which is the true ending?
