- I drew young Agent Anna Navarre from the original Deus Ex. An amazing childhood game that I first played in 2004-ish and only completed it in 2020. Indelible atmosphere, characters and gameplay, its one of the few games that really stays in a child's mind for decades.
- Yesterday I finished my first playthrough of the Original Deus Ex. All the augments in the world didn't help me against this foe.

Posted: 10 Jul 2020 11:49 AM PDT I tried to dig some game files (models to be precise) and I found "jensen_versalife_body.prim"...A friend of mine was shocked, she noted that "-Maybe he IS the one, who was stored in a VersaLife container in Palisade bank, because there is a body (as seen by heat signature)". My friend compiled an open source "Free Camera" dll, I injected it and then flied into a container....And.... Yes.... This IS an Adam (PS. Yes, I know that there was a way to see this, without using any injectables, but this is more of an actual proof) [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Jul 2020 11:09 PM PDT I would like to preface by saying that i am yet to play mankind divided (currently downloading). All ending seem bad, one seem to give all the power to corporations, one says humanity will tell tell cybernetics to fuck off, and one lets the Illuminati win.all of these including the mass genocide you can choose as a 4th option all seem very black and white, which seems to oppose the whole idea of this game. either Illuminati wins, people hate science, or companies lose all restrictions. I feel like a "do nothing option" is straight up better. Why do I have to pick to kill everyone just because I don't want to take the 3 options? Darrow's ending's outcome is also "we dumped the aug shit cause technology can be abused", like, i kinda doubt humanity is gonna be like that. we have nuclear energy but just said no to nukes... feels like I want an ending b/w Darrow and Taggarts': where the Illuminati is ousted, and humanity places restrictions on research. It feels like the reason they show you all the terrible shit the military and Illuminati do so you go against unrestricted research...but restricting it comes with letting Illuminati...which did this research winning. Kinda feels like the "no win scenario" was forced as to not have a more moderate solution. I can keep ranting but lets say the endings are not ideal.another problem I have is that when i wanna see what's the canon ending for mankind divided's setting, I find out that your choice doesn't even matter as your transmission wasn't given enough attention? and the station was gonna collapse anyways? some say it's the self distract option but serif survived. It feels super disappointing to find out the sequel is going to ignore the choices... which have been handled clumsily already. Just interested to hear how you guys see this, not just the ignored ending, but the ending themselves. (I guess I'm not "just" interested, I had to vent a bit too. Fun game over all, 8/10, not enough take down animations) [link] [comments]

Interesting additional reading Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:19 PM PDT None of the links below are mine and I take no credit for them, just sharing a few of my favourite Deus Ex-related webpages for additional reading; Deus Ex - Sunglasses at Night (antiwalkthrough) https://www.it-he.org/deus.php A brilliant and funny piece of writing from an author I love. Every single of one his "antiwalkthroughs" are magic, especially Skyrim and Deus Ex. There's is also a write up on Human Revolution and four additional pages on the original Deus Ex. An absolute classic for fans to read. Deus Ex: The Movie https://playthroughline.com/scripts/deus-ex A parody/mock movie script, brilliantly playing up all the tropes and cliches you'd expect. Another one I come back to for a laugh. The Deus Ex Bible (http://www.nanoaugur.net/dx/bible/) A must read - end of. :) 2x interviews with writer Sheldon Pacotti (http://kotaku.com/how-deus-ex-predicted-the-future-1616252703) (http://www.newlifeinteractive.com/misc/KFJCdx20011104.mp3) Some interesting insights from the talented and extremely geeky writer of our favourite game. The first an article from Kotaku, the second an audio interview. There are also some brilliant YouTube videos I'm sure you've all found, but here are some of my favourites; Deus Ex: The Recut https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AUfZZbrXVAw Deus Ex: Malkavian Mod https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5Mmd3hMwivI Yahtzee - Deus Ex https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W_LULRj_f4w Playalong with creators https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oaJ18p4QH2Q There are hundreds more but these are some of my favourites :) [link] [comments]
Is there a different version of Deus Ex for China? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:54 PM PDT Since China is known of censorship and having slightly different versions of the game than other countries, I was wondering if Deus Ex games, specifically HR, has China censored version and if so, what has been removed. Human revolution kinda does present China in a such way that I thought it would be something they would definitely censor. It also has rioting etc. that may also be something they like to cencor. The Dues Ex games are getting worse in terms of storyline in my opinion. Posted: 10 Jul 2020 04:39 PM PDT Don't get me wrong. The dev's are very competent and Eidos-Montréal know how to make great looking games with good game play. However I have heard some people claim that storylines have improved since the original game and in my opinion this could not be further from the truth. Given the limitations of video games in the late 90's to early 2000's the first game had better characters and story over all. It delved into a lot of different themes such as government corruption, the military industrial complex, AI, trans humanism, secret societies, plutocracy, loss of privacy and epidemics just to name a few. I'm seeing a lot of SJW narratives in the new Dues Ex games as they lazily try and present messages about racism and prejudice as well as the fact they only have a single theme which is cyborgs. HR and MD were completely based around cyborgs and societies view of them. These games have nothing more to say. They are shallow as all hell from a narrative standpoint and they leave nothing to reflect on from a story telling perspective. The choices you make in the newer game's don't really matter either because there are no radically different outcomes that derive from the choices you make. The good guys remain the good guys and the bad guys remain the bad guys and the players perspective basically can't be expressed through the game mechanics. It even has NPC's you can't kill which although did exist in the first game it was not to the same extent. I can enjoy these games if I put aside the fact I don't like most of the characters or respect the one dimensional story telling. The environments are really fun to explore and the game-play is really solid. Especially in MD. That said I feel these games had potential to be great and they're not great They're just ok. This is just my opinion but I don't think you can't extract a compelling cyberpunk story-line from from social justice political trends. There's nothing to ponder or imagine. It's just lazy moralizing and worst of all bad writing. Video games are a product of their culture and time and during the late 90's to early 2000's MK ultra was big and the Matrix was big. Things like that had an influence on the first game and it was for the better because It was interesting time. Conspiracy theories and Matrix trench coats make for better story-lines than this SJW horseshit. [link] [comments] |
