DX:MD Discovered this beautiful (but disappointing) attic on my 2nd playthrough

    Jensen's apartment, second level

The space between the roof and the ceiling in Jensen's apartment seems to be designed to be playable: you'll notice some planks laying around, allowing you to traverse from one beam to another.

You can easily get to it by jumping over the cupboard/dresser in your living room with Klipspringer enabled.

Discovering this place brought a brief nostalgic feeling. You know, that kind of feeling of "Oooh, cool, I found another secret!" which you get a lot when playing the original Deus Ex and emerging at places that are "always there" but are somewhat hidden from a plain site. Just to name a few: a thin ramp leading to upper level cornice in a secret bunker below Chateau DuClare, a cornice in the forgotten building in Champs-Elysee near the cat-loving girl, the upper level of some building at Wan Chai Market with Chinese Police officer patrolling -- and many, many more.

To my disappointment, I found nothing in this beautiful attic. Nothing! Not even a biocell, not even a pack of 9mm ammo saved "for the darkest hour", not even something completely useless like a disposable flash light or pepper gun ammo (sorry, back to DX1 memories again). Or maybe a newspaper with some story, or some datacube that you can't obtain from anywhere else?

You see, I just can't help but to draw parallels to DX1. In there you got a lot less visuals, but a lot more things to explore. And you were always, always rewarded for finding them (even in some small ways, e.g. with some junk pick up that you don't really need and with some small XP that doesn't really make so much difference). The key was this shoulder patting, all the time. You don't just discover a secret -- the game also *let's you know* that you discovered it, and congratulates you.

I know, we have these rare "Pathfinder" bonuses every now and then -- but they are indeed rare, and most of the places you find are surprisingly "empty", despite all the visuals.

(also, I'm probably getting too old and nostalgic -- so pls soz)

How Much Choice and Consequence Is There In The Original Game (Apart from the ending)?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 07:45 AM PDT

I first played this game last November and it's one of the best games I've ever played. I tend to really enjoy first person stealth, immersive sims and RPGs with emphasis on player choice. Before I played the game I was under the impression that it would be a Fallout New Vegas style narrative driven RPG with lots of emphasis on dialogue as well as branching quest design because of what I had read about it online.

However, when I played it my expectations weren't met and most of the dialogue was choosing what to buy from merchants without having much impact on the missions. But I still loved the game to bits because of its gameplay systems, choice of playstyles, missions, level design, atmosphere, world building, themes, setting, writing, etc. What may have been the case was that I simply haven't played it again approaching scenarios in different ways to have seen the multiple outcomes of them.

To those of you in this sub who love this game as an RPG that offers player choice and differing consequences: What are all of the scenarios in this game which give you different outcomes and what are the different ways you can approach them to get the different story outcomes? (without spoiling the outcomes). The only ones I'm aware of is the final choice in Area 51 and whether or not you choose to listen to Maggie Chow when you're looking for the sword.

Regarding the cheering in the Tai Yong Medical ambient music

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 04:33 PM PDT

This song has to be one of the best in the entire game if not the best ambient music ever made, but the cheering completely kills it.

Is there a way to fix it?

The song is called "Hengsha Daylight Part 1"
