Even more indisputable proof that Adam Jensen inserts biocells into his ass

    Original post, for context:

I've read some counterarguments about my deep revelation, and so I want to clear that up.

It was painful to get back behind this so soon, but I'm willing to bust my own ass for this. For the truth.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided is a bittersweet experience.

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 11:25 AM PDT

After having a blast with Human Revolution, I went into Mankind Divided with some great expectations and to be honest it's a bit underwhelming. Let me say: I find the gameplay mechanics to be stunning.

Holy cow I can't even keep up with the crazy stunts this game allows. Even stealth can be played as if it's an action movie.

It would have been even better to have the ability to carry bodies, and time not stopping while we're doing takedowns, but still the gameplay remains fantastic.

But, there's a but, I find it to be way easier in general: combat seems easier in every approach (the IA is a bit dumb to be fair), spotting shortcuts or where vents can be is easier, level design as well seems more confined/limited.

For example one thing that I noticed: in Human Revolution, even the shortcuts had their challenges, they weren't always the easiest strat and it wasn't even that easy to find your way through. In Mankind Divided the shortcuts are sooo OP. Use them and it's GG basically. Didn't like this.

So even if the gameplay has more tools to handle and get creative with, I think the world built around it (or for it?) kinda defeats this purpose.

With that said, my main gripe is the story and the game's focus.

Not that it's not interesting, but the plot feels too cliché? I felt I was the protagonist of a detective movie with some noir tints here and there, rather than in a world with conspiracies with people chasing power and caring only about themselves. The mood just isn't there.

Side quests were a bit hit or miss in my opinion. And the game seems (not that it does) to incentivate the player to complete them.

Why hit or miss? Because some of them never give an answer to their own questions. For example, there are people who keep talking about this place (Rabi'ah) but we never see it. Misterious augs, even Marchenko metions them, and we never get to the end of it. Similar thing happens for memory replacements.

And another thing that I didn't like, it's that the dialogues and events don't reflect the choices made. For example, I did help Otar, but he's hostile in the ending regardless. What does it mean for Koller? I never got the option to know. Retrieving the proof from the station, if I take down 1 cop in a non-lethal way, it seems like I've killed dozens of them and so on.

There're some really high points. The Bank heist, to say one, felt a lot closer to the Human Revolution mood and it's a really good level with tons of options.

Delara Auzenne is a 10/10 character. She's shady as fuck and I loved that.

Also the pilot Elias. He becomes a much better character through exploration. But again, a bit of a shame we don't get to query him about our findings.

Overall it's not a bad game by any means, but it feels like the game doesn't know what its own goal is, which is a bit disappointing.

I have absolutely no idea what I need to do to get this game to work

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 09:55 AM PDT

I've owned this game for a year and only today have I managed to get it to work and even then it crashed after 20 seconds.

I've tried the visible upgrade, I've tried compatibility mode, I've tried windowed mode, I've tried setting affinity and I even bought it on the original Xbox last year and that didn't work either. Playing in windowed mode crashes the game as soon as I launch it. I don't know how but today I got into the first area and the game crashed before I could even move and then the game doesn't even load anymore.

I'm in an endless loop of checking for local files, finding 1 missing one, failing to update and then failing to find the executable on Steam. I think the Visible Upgrade for getting me to the main menu at least. I know there's loads of posts online but I feel like after a year I've exhausted my options. The fact I even managed to get this far made me want to keep trying so I thought I'd ask anyone for some help. But I hear the game can crash randomly at any point for no reason so I'm wondering if its just a lost cause but then I also hear others saying they had a perfectly fine time getting it work.

I have an HP Spectre, I shouldn't think specs should matter much because this game theoretically should be able to be played on a potato. The first game runs like a dream.

    Thank you.

Deus ex: human revolution director's cut still buggy, unoptimized?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 11:32 AM PDT

I was thinking of finally making a good Deus Ex HR run and the Director's Cut is on sale for like 2 bucks. I have the original edition on PC and I do actually love the gold filter. The first boss fight last time I played a few years ago was a pain though.

My real question: people said the Director's Cut was buggy, unoptimized when it came out compared to the original due to some issues with source code missing. Did they ever update it or is this still the case?
