This is a place to chill whenever you like, post feedback, ask questions that you don't think warrant a new thread, or just get that burning DX1 meme out of your system. Posted: 31 Mar 2020 01:08 PM PDT I've played both Human Revolution and Mankind Divided multiple times, so I figured that I needed to go back to the original to see where it all began. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I think the first Deus Ex might be my favorite game from the series. The characters, lore, and overall atmosphere really tied the whole series together for me. For anyone who's curious, I merged with Helios at the end. Even though all of the Deus Ex games involve tough choices, I think this one was the hardest. The consequences felt real and genuine. Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:38 PM PDT I want to say a few things: I can't believe how much HR and MD are similar to DX1, the augs are all almost the same, the weapons and weapon customizations too! Anyway this doesn't make them bad games. And wow, the ending is incredible, I'm a little disappointed that the game doesn't tell you the events that happen after the ending, but it's ok, as a person who values freedom most of all, I chose to destroy the base, anyway I recognize that it's the ending with the most bad sides out of all of them. A dignifying conclusion to Adam Jensen's story arc [heavy spoilers to Mankind Divided and DX1] Posted: 01 Apr 2020 02:33 AM PDT As I understand the Bob Page in Adam's story arc is still affiliated to the Illuminati, the same Illuminati who in 2050 have been almost annihilated by Majestic 12 and are next to being only a memory, so just like JC helps Adam's enemy in the first game, Adam should help JC's enemy. I think it should roughly go like this: the game starts many years later Mankind Divided, Adam is this far from uncovering the Illuminatis and their secrets when he's contacted by Bob Page/a Majestic 12 member, that tells him that they're the Illuminati's enemy and he should help them. Jensen begrudgingly accepts and throughout the game is a key figure in the Illuminati's demise. Then at the end of the game he either becomes fond of Majestic 12 or is promised benefits (or both) and becomes a fully fledged Majestic 12 agent, leading operations like the hijacking of the X-51 base and others. Going away just before JC enters the scene. at the end of DX1 he understands prematurely that the Majestic 12 are doomed and leaves the scene for good retiring in Alaska or something. What do you think? Am I forgetting something? Does this make sense to you? [link] [comments]
One think I wish they could've gotten better in deux ex human revolution Posted: 31 Mar 2020 05:02 PM PDT I'm playing through deus ex human revolution for the first time and this is my first deus ex game. This is an amazing game I love it so much the story is great and with great plot twist I don't even want to finish this game it's so great but the inventory system is terrible. When I was looking into this game I watched a clue of reviews and each of them talked about how the game makes ammo hard to come by which makes going in and shooting isn't really an option. It's not that ammo is hard to come by it's that you can't hold anything due to the terrible inventory system. I feel a weight system would've been better and you could upgrade how much wieght you could hold. Also there could be a sneak mechanic to it where the more you wiegh the more noise you make and vise versa I feel like this would be a good mechanic for higher difficulties. [link] [comments]
Steam version of Deus ex not responding Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:00 PM PDT I just beat the first level and was about to talk to Manderely when I tried logging in to my personal desktop I accidentally hit shift 5 times and stick keys popped up and now the screen is unresponsive, the music is still playing so I don't think it's crashed. I'd haven't saved in a while and would like to not lose all of my data. So if anyone can help it would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
How do you want Adam's story to end? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 01:10 PM PDT I never played the original Deus Ex or Invisble War, so Adam is the face of the franchise to me. He's great, and I love his crusade against The Illumanti. But since they're still around in the original games, this means that he and his allies are doomed to failure, which really sucks. I still want Adam to get some sort of win. He's given too much and gotten too far for him to lose and for JC and Paul to finish the job without ever acknowledging him, in my opinion. I have three ideas for how it could go. 1: Have his identity be transferred into an AI. He merges with Eliza, and they help The Denton brothers behind the scenes, retroactively making them active in the events of Deus Ex and Invisible War.
How would you go about it? [link] [comments]
What's your favorite Deus ex game Posted: 31 Mar 2020 05:47 PM PDT
What's your favourite part from Deus Ex 1 ? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 09:33 AM PDT Hi there, everything's in the title. Mine would be the whole beginning in New York City, I don't know why exactly, I tend to find the rest of the game to be rather dull in comparison (altough Ion Storm did a great job depicting Paris under MJ12 occupation, it reminded me what I learned about World War II during History classes). The bleak atmosphere, the odd characters and the scenes of urban warfare you witness and to which you can take part really give a special something to these levels. It was somewhat reminiscent of Kingpin - Life of Crime, but with less eyecandy. A pity that we spend so little time in New York working for UNATCO. [link] [comments]
Why is Adam Jensen's office unique? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 05:54 AM PDT I've played this game a few times but I've only just realised that Adams office is unique inside of Sarif Industries. All of the other offices are on the outside but Jensen's is the only one facing inwards, jutting awkwardly into the open space that runs all the way up the centre of the building. Is there a lore/artistic/design reason for this? It also has the word 'Vision' on it in giant letters, is that a random word choice? I guess it's easy for the player to find and you could probably say it is a metaphor for Jensen no longer fitting in at Sariff like he used to but I'm interested to know what you think. Invisible War is still my favorite. Posted: 31 Mar 2020 09:40 AM PDT I've played through all the DX games about fifty times but I'm always sad when people forget Invisible War. Something about the vibe is so unique yet so familiar to the original DX world. The arcologies, the neon blue lights, the coffee shop corporate warfare, and the Omar just make it stand alone. In a weird way, it has the same relaxing ambience as Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines to me, in both cases when wandering the city streets. Even the relative apartment buildings in both games are familiar, down to the broken elevator shaft. Something about Upper Seattle just puts me in such a contemplative yet relaxed state, like everyone is up way too late but there's never a morning to come. It's hard to explain. The Bricks from Anachronox had a very similar feeling for me. Anyone else a fan of Invisible War? I hate seeing it basically forgotten about with all the Jensen and JC. Alex gets no love. I'll admit that the other games had tighter stories and better combat (universal ammo is weird), but that lead to a slower pace for me. Combat was not the best solution in any situation - it always felt like a breakdown in negotiation or an emergency, which you don't get much in video games because you're so overpowered. That meant using more creative approaches to solving the game's problems at every opportunity. It's all in the atmosphere for me, but IW is just soaked in it. [link] [comments]
