And I was wearing sunglasses during a night operation Posted: 28 Apr 2020 03:07 PM PDT I was talking with a friend last night, and we realized that
If I see a greasel or even get lemon-lime when I wanted orange, I'm injecting myself with anything that looks like nanotech and joining the NSF. Squalnomie or bust. We've already both reinstalled DX1 to practice. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Apr 2020 08:56 PM PDT Since I'm writing a fanfic, I've been thinking about Paul's backstory pretty heavily. I think he's a great character with a lot of depth, and he's the one that basically unearthed the entire conspiracy anyways, so I was thinking—why don't we make a mod or another separate game with Paul as the main character? It could start as a flashback from the time that MJ12 staged the car crash that was meant to kill him and his parents, except that he survived, of course, and the game could begin at the UNATCO academy, where you could have like a training session for the game itself. Cutscene to your graduation. Then, you'd start your first missions from UNATCO against NSF terrorists. Fast-forward a couple of missions (and years in-game), there's a cutscene in which you get selected for nanoaugmentations, which you agree to. At this point, the player can use the augs. With every mission, and Paul lurking around, he starts noticing that something isn't right. He eventually gets shipped to Hong Kong to terminate the Luminous Path Triad leader, Gordon Quick. There, he meets Maggie Chow (an MJ12 operative) who claims to side with the Red Arrow, and then helps them steal the sword components (or however it is that the whole incident happened) because he is told by UNATCO that the Luminous Path is evil. However, the more he learns, the more he realizes that things aren't adding up, and when he attacks the Luminous Path compound, he meets Tracer Tong, who reveals the truth about his role in Bob Page's master plan. Anyways, he also meets Lebedev and starts siding with the NSF back in North America. The latter bit of the game will have Manderley and Simons being suspicious about his activity and his inability to carry out the assassination attempt. Paul will have to resort to work as a double agent if he wants to survive ... for now. The last cutscene would be Paul waiting by the south dock, watching a police speedboat approaching (the one that will drop off JC for his first day) which will ultimately begin the events of Deus Ex! So I'm replaying Deus Ex 1 and I want to know something which has always (slightly) bothered me. Posted: 28 Apr 2020 08:40 PM PDT I decided to let Sandra Renton run away from home in this play through so I could meet her in the abandoned gas station. When I talk to her in the abandoned gas station she mentions that she was going to Eugene's and some guy pulled a gun on her and threw her on the side of road. She then says that she'll walk to Eugene's if she has to. I don't think the game ever mentioned anyone named Eugene before. I remember you can meet one of Sandra's friend at the bar but his name is Vinny. Was Eugene ever mentioned in the game? I've been playing this game for two decades but never found out! Is Paul Denton's name a reference to Paul the apostle? Posted: 29 Apr 2020 01:20 AM PDT So, it's a pretty well known fact that at one point in Deus Ex's development, JC's full name would have been Jesus Christ Denton. Oddly suitable, as he serves as the game's 'Christ figure' especially when the Helios ending is put into consideration. This made me wonder, could the name of J.C. Denton's brother, Paul, be a biblical reference to Paul the apostle? Think about it. Paul Denton was sent to Hong Kong to assassinate a sympathizer of the NSF, but somehow along the way becomes enlightened to the the true nature of UNATCO. With this knowledge, Paul switches sides and joins the NSF. Compare this to Paul in the book of Acts. Paul is on a mission to arrest (and most likely kill) the early Christians living in the city of Damascus. On the road to Damascus, Jesus enlightens him and tells him to stop persecuting Him. It is later there at Damascus, that Paul is converted into the very group of people he once swore to destroy. Of course, this is probably just a coincidence, but I think it's very interesting that Paul Denton has such a similar story to the Biblical Paul. What are your thoughts? [link] [comments]
Deus Ex GOTY is crashing my pc Posted: 28 Apr 2020 01:24 PM PDT I've never posted for help with pc stuff, I usually got it down and if not, google is my friend. However I cant seem to find anything about the game crashing pc's or forcing them to reboot. So Im stumped as to why this is happening. Other games run fine, Deus Ex is the only one causing this. I even tried the kentie exe to no avail and I reinstall, same outcome. Im on a higher end pc as well running an i7-8700 with a gtx 1080. So my pc is more then capable. If anyone cant help, I am forever indebted to you [link] [comments]
Does someone have a working fix for DXHR that refuses to launch? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 12:16 PM PDT I decided to go back into Human Revolution and pick up the rest of the achievements I don't have. Steam says I last played in 2013. I downloaded it, and launch. No go. Reinstall, reboot, verify cache, hop on one leg, pat my head, and rub my belly. No dice. Set compatibility options for scaling, and disable fullscreen optimizations. I grabbed a Linux ISO, and did all the above... it worked... until I shut down my PC and came back this morning. Unfortunately, there's no way I can complete the achievements inside of a Linux ISO (wait, that's possible? /s). I'm just fully frustrated at this point. I've spent more time troubleshooting and going insane, than playing the game at this point. I should mention, when it did work I observed something curious in the task manager. The EXE was able to grab the GPU, and the game played fine. Every instance since, it's failing to lock the GPU to the EXE. Specs are TR 3960x, 32GB 3600 Mhz RAM, AMD RX 5500XT 8GB, W10 1903. OS and game are on different drives. EDIT: Noticed another curious item... Event Viewer ID 1002 shows DXHR hanged application with "top level window is idle". [link] [comments] |
